Case when, Join, or Where equivalent in PowerApps for concatenating string to Collection or DropDown

Hello,

I'm struggling to find any examples of this. Is there anyway to concatenate strings to record values in a collection or Dropdown Controll given a specific case.

Imagine I have a list of Projects:

Project 1

Project 2

Project 3

I would like to traverse a collection or dropdown list and append a string where a resource is located on that Project (The Resource being a selection made in a Dropdown Control). If the Resource "John" was on Project 1 and 2 then you would have in the Project Dropdown Control:

Collection / Dropdown Control:

Project 1 -- John

Project 2 -- John

Project 3

I figured there were two ways to do this, apply the concatenation in the collection and then push the collection to the Items field in the Dropdown control or apply the concatenation to the Items field in the Dropdown control.

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

Channing

Re: Case when, Join, or Where equivalent in PowerApps for concatenating string to Collection or Drop

"string where a resource is located on that Project,"

If here you mean there is a resource field and the Project name wihtin the Project list, then we could take use of the Concatenate function to combine those two fields:

AddColumns(ProjectsTable,
"Project_Resource",
If(IsBlank(ResourceField),
ProjectField,
Concatenate(ProjectField," -- ", ResourceField)
)
)

The formula above could be put under the items property of the Dropdown, then configure the Value of the Dropdown to

Project_Resource

Should make the Dropdown showing the results as:

Project 1 -- John

Project 2 -- John

Project 3

Michael
