Error: The schema was not provided to the embedded canvas app (when embedding into Dynamics 365 CE)

When trying to embedd an existing Canvas App into a Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement form by:

- uploading the app in powerapps studio (web)

- copying App ID and pasting into Canvas App Custom Control setup in Dynamics (see here:https://crmtipoftheday.com/1224/prebuild-your-embedded-canvas-app/)

- turning "Enable app embedding user experience" to On

- publishing

I get this error message when I try to open it from within the dynamics form:

"We are having trouble displaying this app. The schema was not provided to the embedded canvas app."

However if I use the app standaloe it works fine.

What could be the problem?

Hi @mgr ,

The integration between Dynamics 365 CE and PowerApps happens through a control called "ModelDrivenFormIntegration". This control needs to be present in the PowerApps so it can communicate with Dynamics. Please check if you got this:

Make sure that you have read and followed below documentation about how to embed a canvas app on a model-driven form:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/model-driven-apps/embed-canvas-app-in-form

Note:

This feature is currently in preview.
Preview features aren’t meant for production use and may have restricted functionality.

Re: Error: The schema was not provided to the embedded canvas app (when embedding into Dynamics 365 CE)

The control is available in the app and I also have changed and published something as suggested by one of the articles.

However the app was originally created in a different environment. I thought I could integrate it somehow but it looks like that doesn't work.
