PowerApps and Dynamics 365 Questions - Lookups, Attachments and Filters

Good Afternoon All,

So I've begun using PowerApps in conjunction with Dynamics 365 as a test site inspection tool.

Instead of spamming the forum i thought it would be wiser to group my questions.

  1. Can I get the value of the lookup instead of the GUID?
    1. This method works but is it the only way?
  2. Am i able to filter the records fetched by the data connector (similar how views do in CRM?) For example all cases owned by the user.
    1. I have found this method however is there another way?
  3. As one of the requirements i need to be able to view documents stored in CRM and also attach pictures to that record via the PowerApp. So far I have not been able to find anyway of doing so however it seems SharePoint might be able to help with this? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

C.T

Re: PowerApps and Dynamics 365 Questions - Lookups, Attachments and Filters

Hi @chee,

About your first 2 question, could you tell why you do not want to use the method in the links?

Yes, so far attachment control is only supported inside a form control for SharePoint connector. If you want to be able to view files/pictures from CRM, you might need to add an idea in the PowerApps Ideas forum, so it might be considered for future releases.

Re: PowerApps and Dynamics 365 Questions - Lookups, Attachments and Filters

Good Afternoon Mona,

I was just wondering if there were other methods which i may have missed regarding filtering and dealing with lookups.

As currently the method by which PowerApps deals with lookups is somewhat clunky and the filtering by a user's email is not ideal.

However if this is the only method to do so at the moment then i will proceed as suggested.

I do look forward to MS to implement more options though.

Thanks,

Chee
