Syncing 100+ photos to SharePoint lists

Hi All,

We have set up a PowerApp which allows the user to take a photo and tag it to certain information through an audit.

We have over 100+ records created on any audit and can have up to 150 photos. We have optimised the photo capture through PowerApps but it is still taking an hour and half to sync the photos back to SharePoint.

Does anyone have any solutions on how we can optimise this process to have the photos sync back to the SharePoint list in a reasonable time.

Cheers,

Hi @RAKESHPANCHAL ,

Have a look at this white paper: https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/powerapps-canvas-app-coding-standards-and-guidelines/. It might be you can find your sollution in here.

One other question: how do you add the images to SharePoint? As list item attachments? If that is the case, please consider storing the images in Azure Blob Storage and linking to them from the SharePoint list. That might help you improve performance considerably.

Re: Syncing 100+ photos to SharePoint lists

Hey,

Thanks for that,

We are using Azure Blob storage and linking them to the SharePoint list.

The issue is the time it takes for the photos to upload into Azure Storage. Is there away for us to use flow to upload photos while further records are created? Offline will only be an issue for a portion of the audit.

Hi @RAKESHPANCHAL ,

Yes, you can use Flow to upload the images to Azure Blob Storage. It might be that this improves performance, but you will have to test it out.

The case is that you are uploading a lot of images. It might be that the issue you are facing is that you make to much calls to Azure Blob Storage. According to the connector documentation you get throttled if you make 1200 or more calls within a minute. You can use Fiddler to figure out if this is the case in your app.

The connector documentation can be found here:
