Change type of control in datacard

If I add an item to my form I have the possibility to change the control (for example on a text field: value list, multiple lines etc..). If I however change anything in the card by unlocking the field then it becomes a custom card. Then it doesn't seem possible to change the control back?

For instance I have a bit field in my database. If I create a datacard for this, then I get a Toggle. What if I wanted a list or a checkbox? How can this be done?

Re: Change type of control in datacard

Hi @SvenV,

You may choose to click the undo (Ctrl + Z) icon at the top right of PowerApps Studio Desktop version, when the app is under edit mode.

And yes, once the modification has been done, there is no way to change it back other than click the undo icon in PowerApps, the DataCard control would stay as custom card.

Changing the control would need to have the data type generated by the control match with the field type from the data source.

So if you would like to replace toggle with other controls, make sure the corresponding property of the datacard could be modified correctly.

Please check more details for the form and DataCard in PowerApps:

Re: Change type of control in datacard

I'm not sure I follow the second paragraph about changing the control.

"Changing the control would need to have the data type generated by the control match with the field type from the data source.

I have a datacard that is generated from a Bit field type in SQL Server. Powerapps automatically creates a toggle control in the data card. Toggle controls only save True or False. I want to be able to save a NULL value as well(Bit data type accepts Null values). I thought I would delete the toggle control and use a Drop Down but powerapps wont allow you to delete control when its a custom card.

Option 1: Re-create Locked Card

I delete the custom card and then create a new one that is locked. Now it is locked, the field has the option to change it to a radio button. Problem is, there is an issue with radio buttons at the moment not defaulting to correct value in data card. So then I need to use a dropdown. There is no radio button option for that locked card(where all the fields are listed)?

Option 2: Work around unwanted control

Do I just add a dropdown into the custom card and have the custom card update the data from the drop down. The toggle control is effectively ignored. Is there a problem with doing this?

thanks
