Power BI Tile in PowerApps not picking up filter

Hi Guys, keen to get suggestions here. I embedded a Power BI tile in my PowerApps app, however the filtering doesn't work at all. It just shows the whole dataset from the Tile. A brief of the details,

1) Power BI Tile pinned from a Power BI Report, very basic chart visual looking at a table called 'Scorecard' with a few fileds including AccountID which is the one I'd like to filter on from PowerApps (as shown in the attached screenshot PowerBITile.gif)

2) In PowerApps the Power BI Tile got embedded successfully. I use a variable to pass on the AccountID parameter and append to the TileURL as below (the bold part is the appended filtering parameter) (as shown in the attached screenshot PowerBITile in PowerApps.gif, I followed this article https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/controls/control-power-bi-tile)

"https://app.powerbi.com/embed?dashboardId=afdeccd3-28a5-41ce-ae04-0950f57f0d68&tileId=da52e0ea-d610-... &$filter=Scorecard/AccountID eq "&filteredAccountId.Text

However the filter isn't picked up at all. I tried hardcoding with an AccountID, removing the spaces, adding single quotes around the parameter (filteredAccountId.Text) but no luck at all. It always shows the whole dataset from the Tile. What have I done wrong? Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi @imocean, I am using a SharePoint List as the data source. Dynamics 365 is a bit tricky already from my very limited experience. I am only starting down the path of using my data in Dynamics with PowerBI and I haven't embedded a tile in PowerApps for that data source yet. I will post if I am able to get something to work! 🙂

Hi All, Sorry for not updating on this one for a while. I've engaged with MSFT support engineers on the case and they have confirmed a bug was introduced just recently which affects the filtering with Dynamics 365 data source. They will put in a fix in late July so will test it out then and report back if it's all good by that time.

Thanks everyone for the help, I really appreciate it.

Hi all,

Just to report back that the issue has been resolved so now it's all working as expected. The TileURL in my case is "https://app.powerbi.com/embed?dashboardId=afdeccd3-28a5-41ce-ae04-0950f57f0d68&tileId=2aba81d3-3c69-...&$filter=accounts/accountnumber eq '" &filteredAccountNumber.Text &"'"

Thanks for everyone's help!

I've got a similar issue. I followed all the instruction here but still no luck. I'm working with a simple test with 1 table called 'AgeTable' containing fields Name and Age.

I'm able to filter the report by a fixed value 'Person1' on PowerBI.com:

https://

app.powerbi.com/groups/2eaea814-7512-4c37-9c01-f5dbd992c775/reports/c9bbe1e0-e22b-4449-80b3-3ad08e57eeab/ReportSection?filter=AgeTable~2FName%20eq%20%27Person1%27

However, when I do the same on a Power BI Tile on a PowerApp, I'm unable to filter:

https://

pp.powerbi.com/embed?dashboardId=863df555-c952-40e8-bc55-45a8a86a5178&tileId=0e611af5-4f90-46e2-9964-b936442f1205&config=eyJjbHVzdGVyVXJsIjoiaHR0cHM6Ly9XQUJJLUFVU1RSQUxJQS1TT1VUSEVBU1QtcmVkaXJlY3QuYW5hbHlzaXMud2luZG93cy5uZXQifQ%3d%3d&$filter=AgeTable/Name eq 'Person1'

I already upgraded to a Power-BI pro trial license, but no luck.

Anyone any idea?

Thanks

In today’s #TuesdayTip, we’re unveiling the secrets and sharing tips to help YOU elevate your ranking—and why it matters to our vibrant communities. Community ranks serve as a window into a member’s role and activity. They celebrate your accomplishments and reveal whether someone has been actively contributing and assisting others. For instance, a Super User is someone who has been exceptionally helpful and engaged. Some ranks even come with special permissions, especially those related to community management. As you actively participate—whether by creating new topics, providing solutions, or earning kudos—your rank can climb. Each time you achieve a new rank, you’ll receive an email notification. Look out for the icon and rank name displayed next to your username—it’s a badge of honor!
