Re: Search by Date and Text

The blue dot normally means that something in your filter can't be delegated and it will have to be done in app on the first 500 records returned. If any of those first 500 records don't meet your filter criteria the gallery will be empty. So I am assuming the list has more than 500 items in it.

Re: Search by Date and Text

I wish. There are only 80 or so records. When I remove the filter it works fine. (scratching my head)

Re: Search by Date and Text

So collect your database into collection and display the collection in your gallery
Put for example in your Screen OnVisible
ClearCollect(showCollection, databaseName)

And replace the database in your gallery with showCollection

Re: Search by Date and Text

If you only have 80 items then you should get results back even if you have the blue dot. My guess is that there is an issue with the formula. You can troubleshoot by first using just the Filter function and if that returns results then you know that part is good. Then try the Search function and if that fails then you know that is problem area.

If you plan on having more than 500 items (or more than 2,000 if you use the new row limt feature) then you should follow @Sienna suggestion because the date filtering is going to cause the filter not to be delegable.

Re: Search by Date and Text

Not sure how that search can work

Try something simple like

Filter('1022 Operations Dashboard',StartsWith("insert the fields to search", extSearchBox1.Text), And DataCard21.SelectedDate = "datefield you want to search")

If that works you can then start building the sort

The blue dot means the result is not deleagble.  In the case I just gave you you should not get a bluedot.  You will if you change the = to <= or >=.   This based on a restriction of 500 records on teh server side.  ere has been a recent upgrade where you can increas this to 2000 but this is on teh client side.

Thanks for the suggestion. You may be right, don't know if that search will work. I keep hitting a wall here.  Smiley Frustrated

Re: Search by Date and Text

Use a ClearCollect Statement to bring your dates table into PowerApps with, an Add Column function and use the Tex function to set your date to yyyymmdd. Then in your filter use the starts with (Text(DateField.selected,"yyyymmdd").

That should get you  the xpected result.

Re: Search by Date and Text

Hello All,

Thanks for the help so far. This is how far I have gotten.

This works:

SortByColumns(Search('1022 Operations Dashboard',TextSearchBox1.Text,"WorkerName","JobOrderNumber","Title","Trade"),"JobStartDate",Descending)

Want to add an additional search by date picker to reference a date picker:

Re: Search by Date and Text

SortByColumns(
  Search(
    Filter(
      '1022 Operations Dashboard',
      DateColumninDataSource = DatePicker.SelectedDate
    ),
    TextSearchBox1.Text,
    "WorkerName",
    "JobOrderNumber",
    "Title",
    "Trade"
  ),
  "JobStartDate",
  Descending
)

You can search the filtered view which shows only records matching the selected date.
