When I create an app from a sharepoint list, the default app begins with this error:
The requested operation is invalid.
Server Response: The expression "*,Title,NewColumn1,Assigned_x0020_rates/Title,Status,Status_x0020_note,Executed,Expiration,Contract_x0020...
Name,Editor/Name,Assigned_x0020_rates/Rate Abbreviation" is
I noticed that it will "deselect" my data source. Reselecting the data source will cause the error to briefly go away, then it comes right back.
I would like to know how to resolve the error so that I can work with my data.
I am relatively new to powerapps, so I appreciate any help and direction you can give me.

To me it sounds like an error with rights to the data. When I shared my app to others, they would get an error similar when they tried opening the app, but didn't have rights to the data source. I'm still new to Powerapps and learning as well. Hopefully this helps.
Could you please share more information about the SharePoint list, is it a custom list?
Currently PowerApps only supports to generate App from the SharePoint custom List, other list types may not work as expected.

As stated I am new to powerapps. This is using the default app. I am not sure what function generates the error because all I did was click "new app from data" and navigated to my sharepoint list, selecting it as my data source.
Is there a way to view and edit the underlying query in power apps? If so, how? I have not been able to find a way to do this.
