Video tutorial: Nested Galleries / Sub-Galleries.

I was struggling a little with nested galleries (sub-galleries) so I put a quick video together in case it helps others:

This only covers the basics but as I try out more ideas I'll maybe add some more videos...

Cheers

Re: Video tutorial: Nested Galleries / Sub-Galleries.

Hi.. THANK you so much for your video.. I'm new here and new to this. I used your video and have built the same nested galleries but using Office365 Sharepoint list as a sourse. Now i want to go to the detail screen for the current item that is nested under a heading. So in your video that would be the ability to click "beef burger" and it takes me to the details screen. I have tried

WHen i use this on OnSelect it does display the first item. But when i click another item it doesn't update the details for that item.

Navigate(DetailScreen1, ScreenTransition.None)

If i use the below i get nothing in the details screen.

Navigate(DetailScreen1, ScreenTransition.None, {View:ThisItem}) and also with a variable. It transitions to the screen but only the first item. It

Any ideas>?????????

Hi @Anonymous

On your detail screen, are you setting the Item property of the form to View?

The context variable View is storing the details of the item selected, but you will need to 'tell' your detail form that you want to display that item. If you do not specify the item you want to see, the display form will just display whatever is the first item in the datasource.

Hope that helps!

Paul

Re: Video tutorial: Nested Galleries / Sub-Galleries.

Thank you for coming back to me. I have actually sorted that and a whole heap of other issues and it works now. I'm just trying to use your idea of expand collaps the items as per your second video now. I'm just not getting the query right just yet.

Re: Video tutorial: Nested Galleries / Sub-Galleries.

By the way.. how does one searh the data after we have used the groupby function in the video. It all looks great but with the formula i don't see a way to search the items. Do we need to add something?

GroupBy('Support log',"spgTempSchoolName","SchoolGrouping")

and what i wanted to do was to have search and then use your second video to colapse everrything and just show the header (school Name) when using the system. But now i;m gettting ahead of myself as it just seems to hard. Just spend an hour of trying to understand your second video but i didn't get it to work as i couldn't figure out the source = ..

Hi @Anonymous

I think you will need to put the Filter on 'Support log', then perform the GroupBy on the results e.g.

GroupBy(Filter('Support log',MyColumn=MyValue),"spgTempSchoolName","SchoolGrouping")

Hi

Thank you for this. Whats the extra MyColumn=Value is that somehting i have to make up as i don't have at the moment?

GroupBy(Filter('Support log',MyColumn=MyValue),"spgTempSchoolName","SchoolGrouping")

Yes, the MyColumn = MyValue is just the condition for a filter. You'll need to specify that.
