Set up Azure ADB2C authentication for Power Pages

I am working on my very first portal and was trying to set up Azure ADB2C authentication. I followed everything from the Microsoft Learn documentation but when I click on the Azure ADB2C login button on the Sign in page of my portal, I see the following error:

How do I fix this error? Thanks a lot for your time and help.

  • Your issuer URL is not using the TFP protocol, you need to update that in the Azure Portal
  • Navigate to your Azure tenant -> switch to the B2C directory
  • Open your User Flow (both sign up and reset pwd)
  • in the Issuer Claim URL, make sure you are using the TFP
  • update the Site Settings in your Portal

Below an example of my site settings for a B2C portal, I am highlighting a few elements that your should be matching, specially around the TFP configuration:

Please note that B2C changes always takes a few mins to take effect (on Azure), on the Portal side, you will need to restart via Admin Centre to make sure those settings are refreshed

Hope this helps

Hello my friend

When setting up the Authority URL, did you make sure to use the TFP URL?

Can you share a few snapshots of your site settings / B2C configuration? you can mask the GUIDs, but please keep the URL structures so we can help

@PowerAddict I apologize for the inconvenience you’re experiencing with the Azure AD B2C login button on your portal’s sign-in page. that you’re encountering an error when clicking the Azure AD B2C login button on your portal’s sign-in page. Let’s troubleshoot this issue together. Here are some steps to address the problem:

  1. Check Error Codes:

  2. Common Solutions:

    • Here are some common solutions for authentication-related issues:
      • Reply URL Configuration:
        • Ensure that your portal’s base URL is added to the Reply URL in your Azure AD B2C application registration.
        • You can find this configuration in the Azure portal under Azure AD B2C > Applications > Your App > Authentication > Redirect URIs.
      • Fiddler or Browser DevTools:
        • Use tools like Fiddler or Browser DevTools to inspect network requests and responses.
        • Look for any specific error messages or unexpected behavior in the console or network tab.
      • Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR):
        • If applicable, consider using the recommended self-service password reset (SSPR) experience.
        • This can provide a smoother authentication process for users.
  3. Detailed Error Message:

    • If you encounter a specific error code or message, please share it, and I’ll provide more targeted guidance.

Remember that troubleshooting authentication issues often involves checking configurations, reviewing logs, and understanding the specific context of your application. Feel free to provide additional details or error codes, and we’ll continue to assist you! 🚀

That worked, thank you @OliverRodrigues !

I do have a question for you - how did you figure this out? I have discovered numerous such things with Power Apps (which is where my expertise is) but I wonder how someone can figure out such details. If you don't mind sharing.

Thanks,

Hardit

the official documentation actually mentions about the TFP Set up an OpenID Connect provider with Azure AD B2C | Microsoft Learn, but I guess it's a configuration that is easy enough to miss as it's such a small detail

This particular one I always remember, because in the past I had nightmares of hours and hours trying to find the issue and not finding the root cause. The documentation back then was a lot less detailed so it was really difficult to get it sorted.

So it's basically learning the hard way.

I am glad this is sorted, if you don't mind marking that as solution, it would be great 👍👍
