Getting some strange behaviour with the markdown for approvals.

It's formatting correctly when view through Flow in the browser, but not in the email.

Were having the same issue with markdown, since the latest update where you can now approve the request within the email again.

looks like Microsoft are already on the case, this Thread has a response from Microsoft saying it will be fixed this week

Looks like they've fixed the /n returns problem, but the markdown table still aren't working in the emails

Hi @Anonymous,

Could you share the configuration in your Approval Details?

I did a test on my side, using a simple Markdown, the tables in the body of the message displayed on the web page and the client are normal.

Please take a try again.

Hi Barry,

My markdown is working as it is showing correctly in both the web and client views (See screenshots in original post). It is not working in the email or Flow plugin in Outlook.

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

Is my understanding wrong? My first screenshot is a screenshot of the inside of the Outlook email body.

You're not understanding it wrong, my first two screenshots from my original post are also from Outlook, the first one is from the Flow plugin in Outlook and the second one is from the original Outlook email and show the markdown not rendering correctly in the email.

The last screenshot is from the Flow web page that shows that the markdown is correct.

Can you share a screenshot of your test?

This is the step used to create the markdown.

Please note that this is rendering correctly in the web and mobile client, but not email. I have checked an approval from the 25th October and this wasn't rendering markdown in the Flow plugin for Outlook, but was in the original message.

As of March 2019 this is still a problem. Table markdown is not rendering properly in emails; it only shows correctly in the mobile app. **Bold** _italic_ and other markdown appear to work everywhere. It's just the |table| pipe characters that are ignored and render as is.

@v-bacao-msft what is the current status of this? We are currently unable to utilize approvals due to this issue which is coming up on 6 months

Came to ask the same question...  Anyone have info on a fix?  Trying to get everyone to buy-in on using Approvals but list data is a major usage and this issue just makes them want to stear away from MS things in general.

Also interested in a fix for this. Trying to inject data into a table and it looks fine in web but shows the markup in Outlook

The Aprroval action is great however formatting is a joke within these actions.  We are struggling to get basic formatting to work properly within the approval action using markdown.  Seems to work okay on outlook online and mobile client however Oulook full client very little of the formatting is working for us.

Just wanted to say as of 11/12/2019 I'm having this issue, very annoying.

In today’s #TuesdayTip, we’re unveiling the secrets and sharing tips to help YOU elevate your ranking—and why it matters to our vibrant communities. Community ranks serve as a window into a member’s role and activity. They celebrate your accomplishments and reveal whether someone has been actively contributing and assisting others. For instance, a Super User is someone who has been exceptionally helpful and engaged. Some ranks even come with special permissions, especially those related to community management. As you actively participate—whether by creating new topics, providing solutions, or earning kudos—your rank can climb. Each time you achieve a new rank, you’ll receive an email notification. Look out for the icon and rank name displayed next to your username—it’s a badge of honor! Fun fact: Your Community Engagement Team keeps an eye on these ranks, recognizing the most passionate and active community members. So shine brightly with valuable content, and you might just earn well-deserved recognition! Where can you see someone’s rank?
