Is Flow a suitable replacement for this process?

Hi,

We currently use a product call AdLib, via an existing .NET application which monitors a folder structure on one of our network servers.

The .NET application scans the source folder structure periodically, for new and updated files added by Users. On finding a new/updated file it generates a ticket which it then passes to AdLib, to create or update the PDF version of the file, in a separate destination folder structure for a web application, that displays the PDFs. The source and destination are both network folders, not SharePoint.

We are looking to replace AdLib with a different product for generating the PDF file and placing it into the destination folder structure, including creating a new subfolder in the structure, when needed. Is Microsoft Flow suitable as this replacment product?

Thanks,

Neil Bennett

Re: Is Flow a suitable replacement for this process?

Hi @NeilBennett,

Could you please show a bit more about the network folders that you mentioned? Are they shared folder in Network machines?

Thanks for your feedback, I think Microsoft Flow could achieve your needs currently.

Firstly, you need to add a trigger within your flow to monitor if there is a file created or updated in your network folder. you should search for proper connector and find corresponding triggers within following article:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/

Secondly, you need to search for proper connector and find corresponding actions to create the PDF file within following article:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/

More details about creating a subfolder in a destination folder structure, please check the following thread I responded as a reference:
