Upload a file to Sharepoint, form response initiates a customized row in Excel, tracking inventory

My team stores all files in Sharepoint.  We are trainers who create customized/generic files and we would like to keep track of them in excel.  The problem is that we need more data than the name and date of creation.  We would like to add entries into multiple sheets due to content type.  We would also like to specify who created the file, status of document, etc.

My idea is to initate a form entry which will allow my teamates to specify these values which then transfer to the excel sheet(s)...Is this possible?

HELP!

Thank you

Re: Upload a file to Sharepoint, form response initiates a customized row in Excel, tracking invento

Hi @JakefromSyncHR,

Do your team store all files in SharePoint library?

Where do the status of document exist in?

Do you want to transfer all files to excel sheet or transfer one file to excel sheet when a file is created in SharePoint library?

If you want to transfer one file to excel sheet when a file is created in SharePoint library, please take a try with the following workaround:

  1. Add “When a file is created or modified (properties only)” trigger. Specify Site Address and Library name.
  2. Add a Condition, left input box set to Identifier content of “Update file properties” action, right input box set to .docx. In middle drop down, choose contains.
  3. Within “If/yes” branch, add “Insert row” action.
  4. Within “If/no” branch, add a Condition 2, left input box set to Identifier content of “Update file properties” action, right input box set to .xlsx. In middle drop down, choose contains.
  5. Within “If/yes” branch of Condition2, add “Insert row” action.
