Work around for run duration limit?

Given the information here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/flow/limits-and-config#run-duration-and-retention

What would you do for items that the approval has expired on? I'm trying to think of appropriate work arounds....

 

One thought I had was:

  1. Have the approval Flow write the approval status back to the list (library, datatable, etc) for the original item for approval
  2. Add a timed Flow to check and see if something is over 30 days w/ no approval or rejection response in the list (library, datatable, etc)
  3. If there has been no response, start a new Flow that kicks off a new approval process
    • This Flow would have to log some info, too, so I could use that to prevent another of the timed Flows from running - maybe log the date / time it started, and my timed Flow in 2 could check that date as well

Is there any way to run some action on the expiration of a Flow? Any way to check to see if there is an already running Flow for an item?
