Archiving SharePoint library, but losing workflow approval history

I have successfully created my first flow app to archive files from one SharePoint library to another within the same site.  I am using the Get File Metadata --> Get File Content --> Create File --> Update File Properties flow of actions. The problem I am having is that the source SP library has approval workflows for the documents I'm archiving, and the history/results are not carried over to the new copy of the file.

I tried the Move File action, but was unsuccessful in getting that to work.

Any ideas on how to keep the workflow results with the archived version of the file?

@tsyrell

You are correct - the "out of the box" SharePoint approval workflow is actually a Designer workflow.

Re: Archiving SharePoint library, but losing workflow approval history

@tsyrell:

It sounds like you are referring to SharePoint Designer approval workflows.  Designer workflow history data is stored in the Workflow history list(and one other list) and not with the document.  In addition, the workflow history is no longer visible after around 90 days from the time the workflow has run.   Also, the workflow history is tied not only to a given list but to a specific instance of a workflow which does not exist in the new list.

In short, I am not aware of any way of preserving the workflow history.

Re: Archiving SharePoint library, but losing workflow approval history

Thanks Scott.  It wasn'tthrough SP Designer, I just used the canned aproval workflow that is provided with native SharePoint.  I'm assuming, however, that the results are stored the same way, and therefore not available.

Thanks,

Tom
