Automate skips 1 day every 5 or 6 days

Hello, hope everyone is doing great,

We're using Power Automate to circumvent the limitations of Power BI Alerts, we have created an Automate that gets triggered by a Power BI pinned Card reaching X value, the native notification is very limited, Automates lets us customize the email. For some reason the notification always skips 1 day every 5 or 6 days. I have checked the Run History, and all days are ok, but it's missing one day.

The condition in the Alert is met, so it should run every day. Does anyone has had a similar experience? Im not sure if the error is in Power Bi or in Automate and the way I have set it up.

Thanks

Hi @ccarias ,

Understood, thanks for sharing.  Do you have another run history for another missed day you can share please?  Guessing here but if you look at the run history for the 5th, it ran 5 minutes late and you have this setup to only send notification "at most every 24 hours", so if this normally runs at 6:11 AM but the 5th ran at 6:17 AM, the 6th won't send an alert because it is inside the previous 24 hours.

In short, I am not sure if this is a Power Automate question but more of a Power BI question.  Have you asked this question in the Power BI community?

Hello trice602,

Thanks for the help, the flow is really simple. You can see in the History Run that day 6 is missing. There are no Failed Runs, there are no Connection errors or user errors.

Thanks

Hi @ccarias ,

Thanks for sharing.  Have you done a root cause analysis on your dataset and confirmed there was in fact a Day 6 alert?  As you said, the flow is quite simple so confirm there was a valid threshold alert on Day 6.  On the surface, looking at your post without seeing any Power BI data, it looks like there wasn't a Day 6 alert to trigger the flow.

Hello,

Thanks for your support, the Alert is a date based alert, so once the item reaches that date, the alert should trigger itself every single day, since it meets the condition. The fact that the missing day is in between other days where the trigger worked blows my mind. January 5th and January 7th are all in the condition criteria, the same would be for January 6th.

Condition: When Days is Greater the X days

Result: If Yes, send Notification, if No, Do nothing

Thanks trice602 for your support,

I haven't asked in the Power BI Community, but it makes sense, after I sent the screen shots, I started analyzing that in Automate, according to the Runs, it has run every 24 hours. Thanks for your time.

Hi @ccarias ,

Agreed.  Please consider marking as a solution.  After a little more research, the issue with the 6th day run here is in fact because it would be inside the previous 24-hour period and is the root cause.  Hopefully this post will help others with the same issue.
