Automated Approval Flow not sending email to Approver

I have an Automated approval flow triggered by a new item in a sharepoint list.

The flow is created by a Service Account.

 

If I create the item and submit to myself for approval, I get an approval email.

 

If I select a different Approver, they do not receive an approval email.

 

If I create an Item using the Service Account credentials and select myself as an approver, I do not receive an approval email.

 

I understand that an Automated flow can be triggered by anyone creating a sharepoint list item to which the flow is attached.

 

Why is this happening? Any ideas?

Hi,

 

Make sure to whitelist Power automate mail-id (maccount@microsoft.com) . My approval mails were getting blocked at Outlook exchange level , whitelisting them with the help of Admin team help me fix the issue.

This happen today also. Now approval emails are not working suddenly. Instead i get a teams notification.

Yes I am facing that issue also. Approvers does not receive email but they got it in Teams notification instead. But Approvers want it in Email only. Please help on it.

Me too!!

 

I was having the Teams meeting with all process owners (including top management team) demonstrating the ready-to-use workflow I designed for months. The result? Instead of showing how great Ms. Power Automate is, I ended up disappointed everyone in the meeting because they didn't receive the email notifications as per my configuration.

 

I am really disappointed with the performance of Ms. Power Automate. Or someone going to tell me otherwise?

Hi @SK_Tan, don't be offended but this sad story is not about  weaknesses of Power Automate.

It's about somebody who cannot prepare the presentation.

And it sounds like there are something I missed out, that I could prepare better or react differently in the meeting. Would you guide me a little?

Hi now they have updated the status to Service Restored. Its working.

This is happening on isolated cases (e.g. because of my flow/ connection) or everyone experiencing the same problem during this period? Just for me to understand better.

I think this happened to all who sent emails using approval connector. Other emails were working fine.

Title: Flows not sending emails

User Impact: Users may experience failures when a flow is supposed to send an email.

Final Status: The configuration changes have completed, and we have verified via telemetry that functionality for flows that send emails have been restored.

Incident Start Time: Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 11:16 PM UTC

Incident End Time: Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 7:03 AM UTC

Preliminary Root Cause: A recent configuration change to a certificate within a portion of the infrastructure responsible for flows that send emails.

Next Steps: We're reviewing our configuration procedures to find ways to prevent this problem from happening again.

I believe you didn't just simply say I cannot do the presentation and you must have something to back you up.

 

Please shed some lights, as I take it seriously. It was my very first presentation to the senior mgt team and it was ruined. I believe the first impression is very important, especially in my organization where this tool is very new to us and hence not easily be embraced and accepted.

 

I simply do not want to make the same mistake twice.

Hello!  I am having the same issue.  The emails are not being received.  I was wondering what exactly this means:

Do you have any screen shots?  Is it the IT DEPARTMENT that did the reconfiguration?  

Far too late to help atlanzaya but thought I'd add my experience for any users like myself that have found power automate all too delicate.

I added a 'Comments' object to my approval and it broke it. The approval went to Teams but was not emailed to the approver (me). I removed the 'Comments' object and tested again and the email was sent and received. 

'Comments' is a multiline field from a sharepoint list. In the approval in Teams 'Comments' was displayed as follows: <div class="ExternalClass28A18A70115049498CC94683A1847416">o bla di o bla da</div>

TUESDAY TIPS are our way of communicating helpful things we've learned or shared that have helped members of the Community. Whether you're just getting started or you're a seasoned pro, Tuesday Tips will help you know where to go, what to look for, and navigate your way through the ever-growing--and ever-changing--world of the Power Platform Community! We cover basics about the Community, provide a few "insider tips" to make your experience even better, and share best practices gleaned from our most active community members and Super Users.   With so many new Community members joining us each week, we'll also review a few of our "best practices" so you know just "how" the Community works, so make sure to watch the News & Announcements each week for the latest and greatest Tuesday Tips!   This Week: All About Subscriptions & Notifications We don't want you to a miss a thing in the Community! The best way to make sure you know what's going on in the News & Announcements, to blogs you follow, or forums and galleries you're interested in is to subscribe! These subscriptions ensure you receive automated messages about the most recent posts and replies. Even better, there are multiple ways you can subscribe to content and boards in the community! (Please note: if you have created an AAD (Azure Active Directory) account you won't be able to receive e-mail notifications.)   Subscribing to a Category  When you're looking at the entire category, select from the Options drop down and choose Subscribe.     You can then choose to Subscribe to all of the boards or select only the boards you want to receive notifications. When you're satisfied with your choices, click Save.     Subscribing to a Topic You can also subscribe to a single topic by clicking Subscribe from the Options drop down menu, while you are viewing the topic or in the General board overview, respectively.     Subscribing to a Label Find the labels at the bottom left of a post.From a particular post with a label, click on the label to filter by that label. This opens a window containing a list of posts with the label you have selected. Click Subscribe.     Note: You can only subscribe to a label at the board level. If you subscribe to a label named 'Copilot' at board #1, it will not automatically subscribe you to an identically named label at board #2. You will have to subscribe twice, once at each board.   Bookmarks Just like you can subscribe to topics and categories, you can also bookmark topics and boards from the same menus! Simply go to the Topic Options drop down menu to bookmark a topic or the Options drop down to bookmark a board. The difference between subscribing and bookmarking is that subscriptions provide you with notifications, whereas bookmarks provide you a static way of easily accessing your favorite boards from the My subscriptions area.   Managing & Viewing Your Subscriptions & Bookmarks To manage your subscriptions, click on your avatar and select My subscriptions from the drop-down menu.     From the Subscriptions & Notifications tab, you can manage your subscriptions, including your e-mail subscription options, your bookmarks, your notification settings, and your email notification format.     You can see a list of all your subscriptions and bookmarks and choose which ones to delete, either individually or in bulk, by checking multiple boxes.     A Note on Following Friends on Mobile Adding someone as a friend or selecting Follow in the mobile view does not allow you to subscribe to their activity feed. You will merely be able to see your friends’ biography, other personal information, or online status, and send messages more quickly by choosing who to send the message to from a list, as opposed to having to search by username.
