Batch edit a filtered set of Planner Tasks?

Hi there - my team is habitually creating Planner Tasks without due dates or assignees. Grrrr!

I'd like to create a Flow that runs each weekend that identifies any such offending Tasks and fills in the blanks by assigning to whoever created the task and setting the due date for the next day.

So far I've used Recurrance as the Trigger, then List Tasks as the first connector, with a subsequent condition @empty(items('Apply_to_each')?['dueDateTime']) which appears to filter for those tasks without a due date set.

Now I'm stuck. I don't know what steps to add to the "If Yes" branch to auto populate all of the tasks that meet that criterium.

Can anyone asist?

Many thanks for any help you can offer.

Re: Batch edit a filtered set of Planner Tasks?

Hi @Walker,

How do you want to populate the tasks that meet that criterium automatically within your flow?

I have made a test on my side and please take a try with the following workaround:

  • Add a "Recurrence" trigger, Interval set to 1, Frequency set to Week and On these days set to Sunday.
  • Add a "List tasks" action, specify Plan Id.
  • Add a "Apply to each", input parameter set to output of "List tasks" action.
  • Within "Apply to each" action, add a Condition, click "Edit in advanced mode", type the following formula:
@empty(items('Apply_to_each')?['dueDateTime'])
  • Within "If/yes" branch of Condition, add a "Update a task" action, Task Id field set to Id dynamic content of "List tasks" action, Title field set to Title dynamic content of "List tasks" action, Due Date-Time field set to following formula:
addDays(utcNow(),1)

Progress set to In Progress and Assisgned User Id field set to Created By User Id dynamic content of "List Tasks" action.

The flow works successfully as below:7.JPG

Best regards,

Kris

Re: Batch edit a filtered set of Planner Tasks?

Thanks a lot for the assistence. That is fanstasic help.

Planner comes across as quite a raw product!

Your screen shots differ to my initial experience which I have since recreated.

You have siad,

"Within "If/yes" branch of Condition, add a "Update a task" action, Task Id field set to Id dynamic content of "List tasks" action,"

When I get to that stage no available dynamic content is available.

I persisted, and skipped "Task ID" to input other data, and for those the dymanic content was available.

When I clicked back into Task ID, the dynamic content had appeared as avialble options.

There's clearly some glitch there.

Similarly, the formula for a date doesn't work for me - I get a "Bed Request" error.

I've manged to make something work using the plain "utcNow() code on its own.

Not really a solution, but a workaround that just about meets the requirements.

Is there any way to do the same for tasks that haven't been assigned?
