Are there any good resources out there regarding best practices for environmental variables? We seem to be adding a whole lot of them, which I'm not sure is good or bad. We have a variety of uses for them, including.....
Setting file paths that might change so we don't have to redeploy a solution if a file path changes
Setting SharePoint site URLs, list IDs, view IDs so that we don't have to change tons of SharePoint actions when moving from DEV to PRD
Specifying application admin email address so we don't have to redeploy a solution if an administrator changes roles
Is it normal to have a ton of environmental variables? How do others go about managing them? What else do you use them for. I've looked for resources online but have only found explanations of what environmental variables are and nothing comprehensive.
