Create document from SharePoint list item

Does anyone know if it's possible to create a Word doc in a SharePoint doc library every time a list item is added to a custom list? I also need the metadata from the list item to be inserted into the document using Word quick parts. This is currently possible via a SharePoint Designer 2010 workflow.

Any help would be greatly apprediated!

Pete

Re: Create document from SharePoint list item

Hi pvanolinda1,

If you want to create a Word document in SharePoint library when an item is created in a list, you may consider taking the following configuration for a reference.

In the File Name field, add the file extension after the file name, in the File content filed, add all the dynamic contents that you want.

Then when a new item is created, the doc would be created in the library. Please take a try with it.

Re: Create document from SharePoint list item

I tried this and it successfully creates the file! I really need to the file to be formatted, though. I currently use Content Types in SharePoint for this and attached a Word doc. Then I use QuickParts in Word to insert the metadata. I'm wondering if there's a way to do this in Flow?

Re: Create document from SharePoint list item

Hi pvanolinda1,

I am glad to hear that you have been able to create the file successfully.

However, I am afraid that currently there is no possible way can be used to format the file content.

Please consider creating a request at Flow Ideas Forum, I will help collect and report it on my side, PGs will check the forum and take your idea into consideration in future releases:

Re: Create document from SharePoint list item

Hi, I just wrote a blog post about how to do this.  Generate a document with MS Word quick parts populated, via Flow:
