Debugging: "status": 400, ...

Hello,

I have a Flow that intermittently fails (4-5 instances over the past 3 months) at "Update File Properties" with a "Bad Request" heading.

  • Here is a snapshot of the steps:

2018-09-13_11-04-37.png

Here is the Status 400 error message at the bottom of Update File Properties:

{
  "status": 400,
  "message": "Invalid text value.\n\nA text field contains invalid data. Please check the value and try again.\r\nclientRequestId: 24d0ed01-1950-4c63-8d47-f6e2ae5026c6\r\nserviceRequestId: bc268e9e-c008-7000-51f9-7f06ae770f58"
}

Unfortunately, I don't know which Text Field has contains the invalid data!

  • The fields are not clearly listed in the error message
  • Nor is there an indicator on any of the fields that it contains invalid data

How do I debug the issue here?

Thank you

Hi @ericonline,

Could you share the detailed screenshot of your flow configuration? What properties are you going to update?

I made a simple test with the similar configuration. However, it ran succeed.

Could you share more details to help reproduce it on my side?

Best regards,

Hello @v-yamao-msft

Below is a detailed screenshot of the Flow. The properties I'm updating are items in a Word template. The Flow runs all the time without issue. It only fails intermittently.

Ideally, I'd like to know HOW to debug this error.

Thank you

Hi @ericonline,

What are the column types you are going to update?

Do you have a Multiple lines of text column? If the character length exceeds the limit, the flow will return the error message.

Re: Debugging: "status": 400, ...

Thank you for the response @v-yamao-msft. Is there anyway to determine WHICH field has the issue? As you can see there are 30-40 fields. Would love to have the error point me diretly to the field in question.
