EMAIL IMAGES: How?

I have images stored in a Sharepoint list. I want to add them to the Body of an HTML email EDIT:: and have them show up in Outlook Desktop and Outlook on iPhone ::END EDIT.
Why is this not working?

So far I've tried:

  • Image stored in Sharepoint List as:
    • Hyperlink (where actual image is stored in Document Library OR OneDrive for business)
    • Picture (where URL to image is stored in Document Library OR OneDrive for business)
  • URL from an image stored in Sharepoint Document Library
  • URL from an image stored in OneDrive for Business, Shared with Everyone

No matter what URL I copy, the image DOES NOT SHOW in the body of my email. What am I missing? Do I really need to convert the image to Base64 to get it into an email?
EDIT2:: Tried Base64 as well. Outlook Desktop does not render this image type either. ::END EDIT2
Thank you

Re: EMAIL IMAGES: How?

Hi @ericonline,

It seems that you would like to insert an image in the email body.

Please check the following for a reference.

The image is stored in SharePoint list as Hyperlink.

Add the trigger When an item is created.

Add the action Send an email. In the body of the email, using <img> label in HTML. Please make sure you have enabled Yes for the Is HTML field.

<image src=”dynamic content for the Hyperlink” width=”500” height=”100”>

A screenshot for your reference.

Re: EMAIL IMAGES: How?

Hi @v-yamao-msft. I have tried your suggestion but the image does not show on either Outlook Desktop nor Outlook on iPhone.

  1. Sharepoint Hyperlink-type column
    1. emailImage.png
    2. emailImage1.png
  2. Clicking the URL opens the .png in a browser window
    1. emailImage2.png
  3. Inserted the HTML just as you showed
    1. emailImage3.png
  4. Flow runs successfully
    1. emailImage4.png
  5. Image does NOT show up in Outlook for Desktop
    1. emailImage5.png
  6. The URL shows up in the email preview on Outlook for iPhone
    1. emailImage7.png
  7. Image does NOT show in Outlook for iPhone email
    1. emailImage6.png

Re: EMAIL IMAGES: How?

Hi @ericonline,

Thanks for testing and providing the detailed information.

I found that the image could only be displayed well on Outlook Web, but neither on Outlook for Desktop not Outlook for iPhone.

I will help report it on my side and back to you later.

Best regards,

Mabel

Re: EMAIL IMAGES: How?

Thank you @v-yamao-msft. There are other posts in the forum describing the issue as well. Here is another example: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Flow-Discussion/Try-to-Send-Email-using-MS-FLOW-with-Ima...

@physics515: Link fixed 🙂

I'm having this same problem. I have tried google to no avail. Also the link to the other topic is broken.

Re: EMAIL IMAGES: How?

I have looked into this a little further and it seems, at least on my end, that it is an issue with OneDrive for business not allowing embedded images.

Which is confusing because I can achive this with my personal account, but when trying to build a similar flow for my company it doesn't work. 😞

*Sigh* Get your act together Microsoft.

I'm sure this is because they do not want businesses to use OneDrive as a file sever for a business website. But still.

Re: EMAIL IMAGES: How?

Hi @physics515,

The issue is also present when storing and image in Sharepoint Document Library and using the Hyperlink/Picture column in a Sharepoint List. So not just OneDrive alone.

Re: EMAIL IMAGES: How?

Yes, I could be wrongly assuming that these two issues are related. However, to the best of my knowledge SharePoint list and libraries are merely OneDrive for Business portals, and all three share the same back-end codebase.

Re: EMAIL IMAGES: How?

Hello @v-yamao-msft,

Is there any update on this item? I'd really like to add images from Sharepoint or a Sharepoint Document Library to HTML emails (viewed on Outlook Desktop and Outlook for iOS).

Thank you

Re: EMAIL IMAGES: How?

I solved this by copying the images to my companies server via the FTP connector giving then embeding them into the email. It sucks but it works.
