Flow condition on Due Date not working

I'm trying to create a Flow which will send a reminder email if a file called 'Audit Due Date' is within 31 days. I'm using actions which I've used below, but on this list it's just returning everything.

The Condition is 'Compose Day' is less than or equal to 'Compose Audit Due Date'

The flow is below(!) and here's an example of the values the Flow is returning. Any idea where I'm going wrong?

Thanks in advance

Compose Review Date: 2020-04-30T00:00:00.0000000
Compose Audit Due Date: 2020-05-31
Compose Day: 2020-02-19
Compose 230/04/2020
Compose2020-04-30

Compose Review Date: 2020-07-31T00:00:00.0000000
Compose Audit Due Date: 2020-08-31
Compose Day: 2020-02-19
Compose 231/07/2020
Compose2020-07-31

Hey @darrenfloyd666

Are you querying a SharePoint list to get all items which have past a specific date?

The best option is to either create a view in SharePoint and use that in your 'Get Items' action or use an OData filter query... let me know and I'll share the details.

Hello,

I have found it much easier to add days to utcNow() and than comparing the 2 dates.
Also,
Try adding a parameter to the end of your addDays expression to specify the format.
For example:
addDays(utcNow(),31, 'yyyy-MM-dd')

Than compare the output of that date to the date you want to compare with.

Cheers, I did that and got this:

Compose Review Date: 2019-04-30
Compose Audit Due Date: 2019-05-31
Compose Day: 2020-02-19
Compose 230/04/2019
Compose2019-04-30

Thought it would be a matter of the condition being Audit Due Date is less than or equal to Compose Day but it's still giving me all the items

Hi @Jay-Encodian if you could share details that would be great. There's already a view set up called ' Scheduled'.

Hi @darrenfloyd666

Can you confirm what the date looks like in SharePoint?

I think the date format needs to changed. I believe the format for SharePoint date is 'yyyy-MM-dd' so if you are using the exact method I posted please change the format to match the above

Hi @darrenfloyd666

If you have already created a view which shows the items you need to handle, just select it here:

1.pngHTH

Jay

Thanks @Jay-Encodian I added the filter but it's still spitting out all the items.

So for example I have an item which has a Audit date of 2019-05-31 and this is what it's giving me:

Compose Review Date: 2019-04-30
Compose Audit Due Date: 2019-05-31
Compose Day: 2020-02-21
Compose 230/04/2019
Compose2019-04-30

The condition is below. The second Output is 'Compose Day.  I've picked this item because the Audit Date is 31-05-2019 and should cause an alert.

Condition.png

Hey @darrenfloyd666

Sorry, I don't follow... if you have created a view in SharePoint which is configured to show only the items you wish to handle. and you have used that view to get the items from SharePoint... then you do not need the condition you can remove it as you have already filtered the data using the SharePoint view.

Have you used a SharePoint view in the 'Get Items' query? If so, have you removed the condition and compose actions as they are not needed?

HTH

Jay

Hi Darren, I've been meaning to ask but what is your compose Compose 230/04/2019? There are other Compose actions throughout the thread with an incorrect date as well.

Oh god, I see what you mean @Jay-Encodian I can filter the items using the if conditions in a view then ping the emails out if those conditions are met! Yeah that could work! I'll give it a go and let you know.

Hey @darrenfloyd666 How did you get on?

Giving it a go now, will let you know...

Thanks @Jay-Encodian that worked like a dream! I've got some questions about Flow adding a For Each loop but I'll save that for another post! Thanks again!

Hi @Jay-Encodian

I've got a horrible feeling that Power Automate is just spitting out email regardless of what I've got in the view. So for example I have a Flow which has got a number of Get Items actions and Emails depending on dates (5 days elapsed, 31 days elapsed etc) and in the 31 Day Expiry I don't have any items but it's still sending out an email. What do I need to add to restrict to just the relevant items, or none at all? This is how I've got the action configured:  Thanks Jay!

EmailFilter.png

Hey @darrenfloyd666

That doesn't look like your email is working with the items returned... if it was then it would have been placed in an 'Apply to each' loop to execute for every item returned.

You can also review the items returned and verify by looking at the output of the 'Get items' action in the run history.

HTH

Jay

Hi @Jay-Encodian  I checked the run history and in the Get Items action (for Audit Due Date is Today) Body in the Output seems to be returning all the items. Although there are only two items showing in the list view. If I add a Apply to Each loop and put the Get Items/Email actions in it the Flow goes crazy and spits everything out!

Any suggestions? Thought I had it.

This is how the Flow is structured:
