Flow converting dates to text when writing to Excel

I have a set of forms that I need to write to a single Excel file, which is then uploaded to a SharePoint list once per week. I built the flows for each form to write to the combined Excel file whenever they are updated, but when they do, they are converting the numbers in the Form submissions into text. In particular, they are converting all the dates into text. Is there a way to not convert the number and date fields to text or to convert them back when writing to a SharePoint list?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Deb Vozniak

Re: Flow converting dates to text when writing to Excel

Hi @DebV,

You could try to set the column type in the Excel table and the type of data submitted in MS Forms to be consistent.

For data with date type, if the type in Excel table is General or Number type, it may cause the date to become a number. Because in Excel, dates are stored as number.

For example: 2018/12/11 actually stores "43445" in Excel.

I did a test on my side. If the corresponding column type is  Date, the inserted data will also be of the same type.

Please take a try and feel free let me know if issue still exists.

Best Regards,

Barry
