Formatting Arrays

Hi,

I have a question on formatting values saved in an array before putting them into an HTML table.

I have the below filter array output from an excel table that I pull in my flow from Sharepoint.

[
  {
    "@odata.etag": "",
    "ItemInternalId": "7c14dcc1-ec1e-41ab-843a-d2d22a6b6061",
    "Party1": "Audi",
    "Party2": "BMW",
    "Date": "43419",
    "RM": "MJ",
    "Responsibility": "MB",
    "Drafted": "1",
    "Signed off": ""
  }
]

When outputting the above to an HTML table to be sent via email I have a couple of issues which I don't know how to resolve.

  1. I'm not in need of the ""@odata.etag": "",  "ItemInternalId": "7c14dcc1-ec1e-41ab-843a-d2d22a6b6061"," bit, instead I would like to select which of the above parts of the array I need.
  2. How do i reformat the date into something user legible, e.g. for the above, I'd prefer to output this as "Thursday, 15-Nov-18"

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi @eltiburon,

I assume that you created the HTML table without customizing the columns.

Please take the following image for a reference and try again with it:

About formatting the date time, please use the function formatDateTime, more details about the code, please check it at here:

The following test for your reference:

Hi Mabel,

thank you for your reply. The trouble I have with customizing the columns is that I'm pulling from the body of a filter array and hence do not have the selection options outlined in your reply (see my flow below). How do I nonetheless select columns?

Hi @eltiburon,

Thanks for updating.

If you want to select columns from actions such as Filter array, Select, please use the items function.

In your current scenario, you are trying to get columns from filtered items. In the action Create HTML table, select dynamic content Body for the From field, for value for each column, use the code likes below:

item()?['name']

 Note: Please make sure use the extract column name in the function.

Thank you, that is very helpful.

I still have 2 problems.

  1. I still haven't figured how to reformat my date column (which comes in a format such as "43425", but what I would like instead is "Wednesday, 21-Nov-18")
  2. It seems as if flow does not allow to sort arrays by a specific item (in this case the date would be useful). I cannot apply the Odata sort command to my excel pull given that some columns are hidden in the original sheet.

Any thoughts on the two above would be greatly appreciated.
