Get email attachment content (2 levels down)

Hi All

Want to try and build something but not sure where to start with this one... any ideas?

I get notification emails into my Outlook mailbox which contains attachments (.msg outlook format) - inside these attachments are .bin (txt) files which contain the text I'd like to retrieve and query in my process.
Therefore I need to somehow get to attachment information which is a an attachment which is inside another attachment.

Any ideas appreciated

Paul

Hi @midland192

I love a challenge and this is one of them 🙂

First thing I have discovered is that if you use get emails to retrieve attachments, if an msg file is attached, it doesn't list it in either get emails v3 or get email v2.

For example I created the following email:

DamoBird365_0-1616752514775.png

I had both my test bin file and an email msg file containing the bin file.  When I run the get emails or get email, it only returns 1 attachments.  If I do the same with just an msg file attached, I get 0 attachments.

I'm not defeated on this one yet but wondering do you experience the same?

Hi Damien

Just got chance to look at this again.

Same issue as your getting... I dont seem to be able to retrieve .msg files via get 'Get Mail' or 'Get Mails'

Not a good start..

However have no issue getting .bin file if in a seprate email

For some reason .msg files are not recognised!

@midland192

Yeah, same.  I was hoping I could extract the msg attachment and then the bin from the msg but it seems to be completely unavailable.  The other option might be Power Automte Desktop.

If I get a chance I will look again as it's fun to find something that is challenging.

Damien

thanks Damien,

I've now made some workaround in my process to avoid me having to read these attachments.  However if you do find a solution then would be interesting to know what you did
