Grant access to sharepoint list runs successfully but won't share item

I have a task list in sharepoint in which there's a column "Assigned to".  I created a flow to share the list item (edit rights ) with the person it has been assigned to

The flow runs successfully but the item has not been shared with the person. When checkng the flow result it seems it should have worked

When i check the permissions for the list item the person is not there

Any help would be appreciated

I'm the list owner

I couldn't get it to work . I tried everything but nothing seems to work.

I migrated my database to a new SharePoint and now i can work properly. I made no changes, I simply created a flow to transfer all the information from the DB to the new one

If i choose "Can view" it works, that just does not make any sense

Hi @ThiagoDuarte ,

Do you mean your flow runs successfully but the person assigned edit permission doesn't show up in Manage Access? Please check if this person is the creator of the form.

After my testing, I found that if the recipient is the creator of the form, after assigning edit permission, it will be hidden by default in Manage Access, and only the situation where the recipient is assigned editing permissions but is not the creator of the form will be displayed.

Hope this helps you!

Hello Rimmon Li,

I am the creator of the list and i create every item on the list.
if i choose "can view" in the flow role definition it works and the person shows up in Manage Access

Let me try to explain a bit better. i have an app that controls tasks assigned to some working teams, when a task is created in the app it runs a flow that share only the item that has been just created with the person it was assigned to (RLS) , but some users showed me that the tasks were not available for them, when i checked the app flow runs ok but never really shared with edit rights (it's basically the same flow, powerapp trigger > grant access to item with edit permissions) - Maybe the same problem here

I created this new flow to try and share the tasks with the users but i could make it work with "Can edit" rights, just with "Can view" (then it works fine)

I can do it manually in the list by share each item but i need this to be automated

I am also facing the same problem. The action Grant access to item or Folder works well, but in the backend permissions are not set. Any further lead on this issue? I noted this is working as expected for some users but fails for some.

Same issue but reversed.  I can't grant "view" access, but I can grant "edit" access.  Makes no sense why one would work but the other won't.  I even tried using the "Send an HTTP request to SharePoint" action but get the exact same results.  Posted it here yesterday: Flow to modify file access for a user runs success... - Power Platform Community ( with no solutions either.

Just wondering if you ever found a work around.

I ran into a similar issue with changing a user's permissions from "Edit" to "View" for a document.  Similar situation, where it would change from view to edit, but not the other way around.  I fixed it by first sending an HTTP request to DELETE the user permissions, than granting them permissions.

If i Choose "Can edit" it works instead of "Can view".

I am having the same issue although it happens randomly not all the time. Is your new list still working? I don't want to move it all and have the same issue! Like you it is to manage tasks in a power app so is pretty cricual.

Yes, the new list is working fine (it was created in a new sharepoint site). It really was a bit of work to migrate everything and i used some flows for that, but no problems afterwards

Thanks for updating!
