Having Get Items start at the most recent items instead of the oldest

So by default, Get Items (for SharePoint) starts at the first or oldest item in a list and then works its way down until it reaches a limit (100 by default, 5000 max). I was wondering if there was a way to tell it to start at the most recent item and work its way up the list from there or, even better, if there was a way to limit Get Items to only items created on the current day.

Thanks in advanced.

Use a Query filter to limit items to the current date.
