How do I use a variable?

I can't find any information on how to use a variable.   I want to put the version information for a doc into this email.

Unless I am missing something, I don't see any reason to use variables or the compose action in this Flow.  If all you need to do is reference properties (including the version number) of the item in the email, just reference them from Dynamic properties in the email.

In addition, all of the properties you are referencing will always be populated - they will never be null.  Therfore, there is no reason to use the coalesce expression.

I’m just learning how to get some output right now. I’m struggling trying to learn how to do anything in Flows right now.

The goal right now would be to only send an email when the version of a document is published. I was thinking of looking for the version to be it’s next whole number. Send an email on all the 1.0, 2.0,3.0 and so on.

I used to be able to do this with regex. I used to be able to see the output in the workflow logs. Now I’m just trying to figure out how to get some debugging and see output for what it is.

The variables here are basically similar to the variables you are familiar with in other languages, but its role is a global variable. You can set the type and use different actions to set the value of the variable according to the actual situation during Flow execution.

In addition, both Variables and Compose actions can be used as debug tools. I often use them to output some values of Dynamic content to check if they match expectations.

In addition, the Dynamic content that you can reference during the configuration process can actually be regarded as a variable, and its final value changes according to the current request.

So according to the current configuration, if you want to get the version number, you don't need to use variables to make the transition, you can directly configure this Dynamic content in the Email body.
