How to Use Power Automate to Auto Trigger Monochrome Mode Every 30 Minutes

Hi all

Been doing wonders with Power Automate on both my home and work laptop.

I have however been wondering on how I can set it up to switch on monochrome mode every 30 minutes so as to "prompt" a general monochrome screen, however if I need to set it back, I can by hitting the shortcut key.

When I have tried to set it up, I have hit issues in that while I can get power automate to access settings, I cannot get it to specifically toggle the monochrome mode.

Has anyone got some ideas?

Best

Hi @13tfiles

To trigger Monochrome mode, have you used the shortcut key ?

Hi Nived

I know there is a shortcut key, and I have tried to apply that also but no distinctive method to automate a shortcut key on a scheduled flow via cloud to desktop.

Hi @13tfiles

In power automate desktop, there is an action named Send Keys action which helps to send shortcut key

Hi Nived, thanks for that, I've been able to get the shortcut key function however I need to create a schedule to automate it.

On my work computer I have been able to schedule desktop flows from power automate cloud using my work/business account. However, it seems that with a personal microsoft account, it is not possible to schedule a desktop flow from power automate cloud.

Can you confirm if this is the case? All that is needed is for the shortcut key: Windows+Control+C to engage every 30 minutes.

Thanks again

Tom

Hi Nived, don't suppose you've had a chance to review my response? 😄

Hi @13tfiles

@Deenuji  / @Agnius  can answer this question as i don't have much idea around licensing.

Hi Nived

Thank you, @Deenuji @Agnius can you add anything to the above query?

Best

Tom

@13tfiles  -  As this is simple automation and it won't require any PAD itself. I would suggest going with PowerShell or C# script for sending keys and schedule every 30 mins in task scheduler.

Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Hi Deenuji, I have started looking into downloading PowerShell. I shall keep you posted with any further developments as I have never coded with C# if that is ok?

Tom

@Deenuji Thank you for telling me about task scheduler, surprised I have never learnt of this sooner. So I have been working with task scheduler, and I have been able to create a basic task that runs every 5 minutes. I have been able to get it to open key programs like Word or Brave as well as MacroRecorder.

I have however been having difficulty in trying to get it to run a specific MacroRecorder file which is recorded to simply engage the Control+Windows+C shortcut which would engage the monochrome mode.

The closest I have got is getting Task Scheduler to open MacroRecorder with the MacroRecord file loaded to engage the monochrome mode, but it doesnt automatically engage. Also, in practice, I don't really need the MacroRecorder to fully open.

The ideal is that monochrome mode (Control+Windows+C) is just engaged in the background.

Something tells me that this is actually much simpler than I am making it. I just need to know which direction to go in - is there a a computer language script which I can use to create a script that directly engages this function?

Thanks

Tom
