How to manually refresh a connection?

Hi,

adding or renaming a table used in a SQL Server connection forces me to wait about 10 minutes for the new table name to appear in the list (even entering the custom name doesn't work - anymore?).

Error executing the api '/v2/$metadata.json/datasets/..database.windows.net,Growth/tables/myNewTable'

In a process of refactoring and optimizing views and tables, this is a real problem. Is there a way to update this manually?

After about 10 minutes of waiting and reloading the flow editor, the new name appears.

Kind regards

Holger

Re: How to manually refresh a connection?

Hi @dixus,

The function to refresh the connection is not supported in Microsoft flow currently.

The only way to reconnect the connection is to recreate it.

If you would like this feature to refresh the connection to be added in Microsoft Flow, please submit an idea to Flow Ideas Forum:

Re: How to manually refresh a connection?

Hi @dixus,

There are some known issues and limitations when using SQL Server, and one of the limitations for these issues is “SQL native query is not supported for on-premises SQL Server”.

You can check doc here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/sql/#execute_a_sql_query

If you rename or create a table by manually, but click the drop-down could not find the table name, you can save your Flow, and then reopen it.

I am not using onpremise queries.

Well, that is what I described and what is not working. You have to wait 10-15 minutes until the change in the database definition is updated in flow, because Flow caches the table definitons in a dataset.

So my question was: how to force the refresh immediately.

Holger
