IDEA: Hash Flow Versions

  • I create all Flows in a DEV env then move them to a PROD env once they are tested.
  • This process is repeated whenever an enhancement is requested
  • SOMETIMES either myself or someone the Flow is shared with accidentally changes the PROD version
  • Another enhancement request will come in and I'll iterate the DEV version and push to PROD
  • This will regress the enhancement from earlier

I would REALLY like it if Flows had a hash number visible so I could quickly compare DEV and PROD versions to see if something changed.

Example:

  • Flow is created in the DEV Env.
  • Flow is ready to export from DEV and import to PROD. Its hash at export is "123456A"
  • Flow is imported to PROD
  • Someone changes something in the PROD version
  • The hash is changed to "8uhjnju*" in the PROD version
  • Flow is enhanced in the DEV Env.
  • Flow is ready to export from DEV and import to PROD. Its hash history is shown and can be compared to PROD before/upon import.

Please consider upvoting this idea if you too need to understand what has changed between 2 Flows.

Thank you

Re: IDEA: Hash Flow Versions

For those of you looking for a way to diff Flows in the meantime...

  1. Using VS Code text editor...
  2. Install the "Diff" extension

  3. Export the two Flows you want to compare...
    1. Export/Logic App Template (.json)
  4. Open both in VS Code
  5. Click F1
  6. Type "diff" into the search bar
  7. Select "Diff"
  8. If you have ONLY the two Flow.json files open, the Diff extension will show both side-by-side and highlight their differences.

Hope this helps!

Re: IDEA: Hash Flow Versions

Hi @ericonline,

Your Idea sounds great and I'll vote it, it will be helpful if we can get the diff between two versions of Flow during we Dev.

And the Method you provide is helpful, it will be more convenient if Developer is a coder.

Thank you for your Idea and method, grateful for your contribution to Flow community!
