Infinite email loop with auto reply

Hi,

 

I have a task to setup an automatic email reply for a shared mailbox. Thanks to the link belows i was able to achieve that

My question now is in regards to potential infinite email loops. This is in regards to spam emails or even out-of-office emails. For example, 

 

  1. spam email arrives to Shared Mailbox
  2. MS Flow sends a reply email to the spam email address
  3. No valid mailbox from spam email address, email rejection / error goes back to Shared Mailbox
  4. MS Flow A will auto respond

Could this actually happen?

Hi @Tommy0824,

 

Could you please share a full screenshot of the configuration of your flow?

I wonder that you may need to configure some conditions to limit automatic replies.

Exclude some other possible factors, or set restrictions, such as triggering flow or executing the following action only if you receive an email from an eligible sender.

Please provide more details and which should be helpful for me to share a further suggestion.

Thanks for your reply, the flow that i created at the moment is a simple one. Basically its When a new email arrives in a shared mailbox > Send an email from a shatred mailbox, thats it. Haven't gone through anything more advanced at the moment

Hi @Tommy0824,

 

I want to know if the Flow you created has caused you such a problem.

Did you say "No valid mailbox" means the sender is empty?

In general, if Outlook has set some rules to avoid spam, spam will be automatically received in the "junk email" folder, and your Flow setting will only trigger the flow if the email arrives in Inbox folder, so it should not There will be the problem you mentioned.

You could also consider adding a Condition. If From is empty or From is equal to some unfriendly email address, don’t perform the following action:

What i mean by "No valid mailbox" refers to situations when you get a spam email from an email address with no actualy mailbox account. In this scenario, normally you will get an automatic email address from either exchange or your mail gateway like mail marshall for example with an email delivery error

 

This is the scenario i am painting

 

1. Spam email > Shared Mailbox

2. MS Flow auto reply email > spam email address

3. No valid mailbox, mail gateway sends email delivery error back to Shared mailbox

4. MS Flow sends auto reply email to mail gateway email address

 

Does my scenario make sense?

I need help with this part, what action should i choose if i want MS FLow to stop sending the automatic reply email if the sender's email address = receipient's email address? If no, MS Flow can proceed as normal

we're slowly getting there. I noticed that there was a flow failed notification. I think it was refering to conditions that i have in place? however, it does seem like it is working as intended though. why the failed notification?

Also, as you can see from my previous post, the condition i have in place is IF the From address is equals to the To address, IF Yes Terminate, IF No Send an email

 

I am still getting auto replies every now and then eventhough the it meets the Yes criteria

I am in a situation where we have a web portal setup for inquiries. The fields in the web portal are you typical enties eg

 

1. Name

2. Email address

3. Contact Number

4. Description

 

As soon as the inquiry is submitted, it is set to send an email from from a mailbox to itself. So for example lets say the mailbox is called info@test.com, if i submit an inquiry from the web portal, i will get an email from the portal via (info@test.com) to the shared mailbox (info@test.com)

 

This would trigger an automatic reply from MS from info to info despite have the conditions setup as above. I have attached a screenshot of the configuration. For some reason, there are 2 actions happening on this Flow, it send the email and then it blocks due to the condition? i am puzzled
