Inserting data into a pre-designed Outlook Template (OFT)?

Hi there, I was wondering if there's a way to get data from a flow into a pre-designed Outlook Template (.OFT file) that's stored on a SharePoint folder?

We have a nicely designed OFT email template file that has placeholder fields (e.g. Subject line has "(New Request) <ProjectName>" and body starts with "Hi <firstname>," and has some of the other data in throghout the body) that we currently manually fill out.  The .oft file is stored on our team SharePoint, and when the flow gets trigged (when a new item is added to the SharePoint List), we want the data fields to be inserted into the placeholders in the pre-designed OFT file (not a brand new blank email).

Is there a way to do this? or can it only be done with blank emails?

Re: Inserting data into a pre-designed Outlook Template (OFT)?

Hi @juphi17 ,

I am afraid that OFT (Outlook file template) is a feature that has not been supported.

If you need this feature, please feel free vote and comment the similar request at here:

Re: Inserting data into a pre-designed Outlook Template (OFT)?

Hi @juphi17 ,

Do you want to fill the information from the SharePoint list to a Word template?

Your scenario could be achieved by using action Populate a Microsoft Word template.

I have set up the flow likes below for your reference:

Further, before starting the flow, you should create a Word template with required fields by enabling the Developer tab. More details please see the following blog:

Re: Inserting data into a pre-designed Outlook Template (OFT)?

That's awesome! I didn't know you can do that.

However, my ask is about e-mail templates. It's very similar to your suggestion, but I want to be able for it to either email the filled out OFT template or open the filled out OFT template for manual sending (to allow for editing before sending).

Since OFT templates support the Developer tab and inserting fields (just like Word), will your method word with OFT files too?
