JSON to outlook only shows on Outlook.com

Hi everyone,

I'm testing out these tutorials for generating JSON based emails with Approval links, both with Message cards and Adaptive cards:

https://www.spcnl.nl/custom-actionable-messages-with-microsoft-flow-part-1-sending-out-the-message/

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/actionable-messages/send-via-email

My issue is that my emails are blank where the JSON should be, except on Outlook.com.

I've really simplified it, using a 3-step flow:
1) Manually trigger flow

2) Compose the JSON script:

3. Send e-mail with output of Compose

Like I said, on Outlook.com, I get the expected results:

However, the other email clients, such as Outlook desktop or Gmail, see it as blank.

I'm not sure what the problem is. When I look at the source code on Gmail or Outlook desktop, the JSON is there:

The only strange thing I see is how the script code got distorted...

I'm open to any suggestions, this is driving me crazy.

Thank you!

Ivan

Re: JSON to outlook only shows on Outlook.com

Hi @Anonymous ,

I also tested on my side and the results are consistent with yours. In Outlook.office.com, these effects can be displayed, but the Outlook client displays blank.

The version of Office I use is the same as yours, which also proves that this version of Outlook does not seem to support the display of such effects:

Re: JSON to outlook only shows on Outlook.com

Quick update: I've downloaded the Actionable Messages Debugger and it says that my Outlook version is not supported. This is strange, since I have O Professional Plus 2016 and it gets updated automatically.

Re: JSON to outlook only shows on Outlook.com

Has anyone found a solution for this yet?  I'm exploring the use of adaptive cards, but even the ones sent from the card playground don't render in the Outlook client (I'm using ProPlus on the monthly channel).

Re: JSON to outlook only shows on Outlook.com

Don't know if you have found a solution to this yet, but message card has been deprecated and it won't work in outlook. I had to change the type of card I was using to get it to work in outlook. I also had to change the script tag to reflect an update that Microsoft did. I start my adaptive card the following way it has been working for me. MessageCard is now considered "legacy" and you'll be able to find documentation for that on the MS w...
