Need help with Flow importing data to Excel without special characters

I'm using Flow to bring data from a MS Forms into an Excel document, but since I have questions on my Form that allow for multiple responses, Flow imports the data with special characters (brackets, quotations, and commas). Is there a way to set parameters so that Flow only imports the alphanumeric data without special characters?

My table consists of 9 columns with 2 of them needing to have this formatting. I've attached an image of the table below.

Thanks!

Re: Need help with Flow importing data to Excel without special characters

Hi @jbrunner ,

Do you want to save multiple selections into a single line without any special characters?

Please check if the following flow will work for you.

After the trigger When a new response is submitted.

Initialize an Array variable named Test.

Get response details from the trigger. An Apply to each loop will be added automatically.

Add compose with the following code:

replace(replace(replace(body('Get_response_details')?['rb12b59186b54449d83e54595ebe4eb10'],'","','|'), '["',''), '"]','')

Add Compose2 with the following code:

split(outputs('Compose'),'|')

Add Apply to each2, select output from Compose2. Within Apply to each 2, add Append to array variable, select dynamic content Current item for Value field.

Under Apply to each2, add Compose 3 with the following code:

join(variables('Test'),',')

Then insert the output of Compose3 into the data base.

@jbrunner

Here is a link to a blog post by @AlanPs1 that demonstrates how to strip out special characters.   With the inof provided by A;an, you should be able to meet your requirement.

@ScottShearer

I tried to use your guide, but I could not get it to work.

I tried putting the Initialize Variable after the function to "Add a row into a table" but was given an error that said that the Initialize Variable needed to be at the top and could not be within a flow. But when I moved it to the top, it messes up my Flow and I no longer get data into my table.

@v-yamao-msft

I was following your guide and got all the way to the last step, but was not sure what I was supposed to do after Compose 3.

How does the data get put into an excel spread sheet?

Thanks!
