Notification when there is a problem with trigger

Hi,

I have created a Flow few moths ago and since it was running fine I haven't check on it for quite a while. Today I went in to check something in it, and noticed there is a error: 'There's a problem with the flow's trigger. Fix the trigger'. I can see that the Flow didn't run for some time. I can't reprocess it, since there is no flows failed... The 'fix the trigger' doesn't give any exact information on what has failed either.

Also, when I check in 'connections' the trigger looks normal, no errors. I didn't got any notification or email regarding this trigger and that worries me - what if more of my flows have the same issue? I have quite a lot of them and it takes time to go through each one and check if the triggers are fine regularly. Is there any way to avoid that, get a notification, email or a failure message?

Re: Notification when there is a problem with trigger

Hi @olgaoszcz ,

Thanks for updating.

It is not possible to send out any notification if the trigger doesn’t trigger the flow.

Please feel free submit a request on Flow Ideas Forum about notifying the user when the trigger doesn’t work feature, hope it could be taken into consideration in future releases:

Best regards,

Re: Notification when there is a problem with trigger

This happened to me a few months ago after a laptop was changed and I had all new Office 365 passwords. Try going to the data -> connections page, deleting the connection and then adding it again as a new connection. I found I then had to do the same in PowerApps (which shares connections  with Flow) and everything was fine after that.

Re: Notification when there is a problem with trigger

Hi @olgaoszcz ,

Which trigger are you using?

Could you share a screenshot on your flow?

Please try to recreate the connection as @RobElliott  suggested to see if it works.

I will help reproduce and report this issue with more details.

Best regards,

Mabel

Re: Notification when there is a problem with trigger

Hi @v-yamao-msft,

I'm using SFTP trigger 'When new file created or modified'. Recreating the Flow seems to help, the error message doesn't pop up anymore. But that still doesn't solve the issue of me not being aware of such an error for unknown amount of time therefore not being able to reprocess it. Is there any way of notifying the user when the trigger doesn't work?

Re: Notification when there is a problem with trigger

Hi @v-yamao-msft,

Since I posted the thread here, I've had similar problems with other triggers. I have around a 100 flows so naturally I don't check every single one every day. If I cannot see the 'There is a problem with your trigger' from the main page, I will not be able to troubleshoot it until I go into details of the single Flow, which I do as often as I can. This has been a headache for me lately. I get the error when using Outlook 365 'When new email arrives' trigger and SFTP triggers. I try to troubleshoot those as soon as I find out, but most of the time I cannot find the reason for it and the message dissapears after couple of days. This happens randomly and I dont think its a desired behaviour.

Re: Notification when there is a problem with trigger

Hi,

I experience the same issue. It apeared when I added a condition to my trigger and I have used 'item' rather than 'triggerBody' expression in the code. The result was that I got the error and when I clicked on 'Fix the trigger' I have seen the message and corrected the condition.

Unfortunatelly MS Flow does not seem to see the correction and the issue still exists, even if my flow looks fine from the inside - eventually I have ereased the condition trigger to check if it changes anything but it did not.

Still see the error and untill it is there the flow is not working.
