Open Approvals link in Windows Explorer

Hi All,

I am trying to create an approvals workflow. It will start when a file is dropped into a folder and the approval email/MS teams item will provide a link to the document that can be clicked on for review/approval.

I have managed to set this up without issue, but I would like the clicked link to open in windows explorer or the default program for that document rather than in browser.

Primary use would be for reviewing documents using Adobe or similar. This is for the purpose of signing documents, which cannot be done in browser.

I have tried messing around by constructing a link that works if i paste it directly into explorer:
%userprofile%\[org sharepoint]\[sharepoint site]\[doc folder]\[filename].pdf

If I copy that text directly into explorer it works. But if i click on that link when it's nested into the teams approval link or email, it doesn't work and tries to open it in browser. When you hover over the link in teams, it has the correct format to be copy/pasted right into explorer, but clicking on the link tries to open that in browser adding https://approvals.teams.microsoft.com/web/ to the start, and a bunch of other junk to the middle like %20 etc.

I don't know if this is me not knowing the right code/format for the link or if teams will always try and open it in browser rather than in explorer.

I just want the people approving the documents to be able click, open, save, without having to download the files or manually save them back to the folder.

This is not an issue with permissions, as noted the links work when you manually paste them in.

**EDIT** I should also note that i have played around with a couple of different options for the trigger, "When a file is created in a folder" & "When a file is created (properties only)" the properties only one seems to work better, but still limited by opening links in browser. Also note that i am opening the links from both emails (doesnt work at all) and the teams desktop app (tries to open in browser).
