Opening a file in flow conditional on text selected

Hi

We are looking into the possibility of using Microsoft Flow to help automate our custom printing workflow.

We can create Excel file containing text triggers and corresponding file paths.  When we view and select certain text in a browser we would like Flow to open the correct file in PhotoShop

So, for example, if we were to select the text "Custom Christening Invitation"in a browser, Flow would open Christening_Invite.jpg in Photoshop.

Is this possible?

Thanks

James

@JamesEllis -

Hi there!  Apologies if you've already considered this, but it seems like this can be done with just a straight hyperlink, no?  One issue you might run into is that the application being used to open the file will probably depend on the user's file association settings.

I know way back when, you could do command prompt stuff and run the application with a space and then the filename after, but I don't know if that still works.  If it does, then a plain hyperlink still might be your best bet rather than a Flow.

Thanks Ed

I should have said that we don't control what we see on the browser.  We log into various different websites to see the orders we are receiving and we need a quick way to open the correct file that is associated with that order.  We sell hundreds of different products all of which need a file opened so that we can personalise and typeset in Photoshop.

Ah, ok.  So it sounds like what may work best is something like a browser plugin.  There isn't an "out of the box" trigger for something like that, but Geetha Sivasailam wrote a great blog post on creating a Chrome plugin.  It may sound scary, but it looks possible.

Do the various sites send email notifications of the orders?  Another option might be to parse that information and trigger your Flow.

Maybe RSS can play into things, as well.

Just a couple of thoughts.

Many thanks.  The email idea wouldn't be practical but I will look into the Chrome Plugin suggestion.
