Posting a picture to a Microsoft Team as channel as the Flow bot does not work in desktop or mobile app

I try to post a message with a picture to a Microsoft Teams channel as the flow bot ("post your own adaptive card as the flow bot to a channel"). The picture is visible in the Microsoft Team web app, but does not show on the desktop or mobile app.

My flow:

The JSON code where the image is declared:

HI @Akourt I'd also noticed that the image only seems to display on the web version which I'm sure is a bug. I'm planning to raise it with Microsoft shortly.

Hi @RobElliott Did you raise this with Microsoft? I'm having the same problem.

It looks like it's an authentication issue to the external image.

No it's not that because the image is saved in SharePoint and everything is authenticated.

But if I use a url to an image in the public domain it works and I thought Teams and SharePoint are not automatically linked (same problem with the RSS connector). I tried putting a simple image into the Teams own SharePoint site and that didn't work either.

There's a teams channel connector for displaying SharePoint news which only works with the Team's own site. That displays the images but if you look at the image's url, it points to a copy of the image in a public place that requires no authentication.

I haven't yet raised this with Microsoft but will do so asap as it's still happening for me when the image it is supposed to display is saved on SharePoint (as it needs to be as it's the main image from a news story).

I had a similar problem and solved it like this:

  • get file content from a SharePoint library for the image you need (in the example hämta_filinnehåll in Get_file_content)
  • in the JSON code write this as the url (ofc with  your 'get_file_content'in the body instead of 'hämta_filinnehåll ')

I got the idea from here where @GRAEMEJOHNSON solved a similar issue wuth the user images:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/Including-a-user-photo-in-an-Adaptive-Card/td-p/2...

so thanks to @GRAEMEJOHNSON  🙂

@Alessandro_Usai is that still working for you? I have the same problem with the images. Sadly I couln't recreate your solution. Could you mabye post pictures of the other steps needed?

I was able to get it to work.

But is there a limit for the size of the Image that is used in Adaptiv Cards? With some Images (285x254, 29,95KB) I get the error message "HTTP request error: The content is not a valid JSON".

The Flow itself works and the JSON seems correct since it works with another image (1,45KB, 96x96).

Thank you for this thread! It guided me to get the result I was looking for. Great job!
