Power Automate License Inquiry

Hi Expert,

I am using O365 and I would like to develop a Machine Learning Model for text classification via Power Automate flow. However, I encounter an error when I upload the data in Dataverse. Based on the information showing in my account, it seems to have "premium" account to further import the data.

To develop a Machine Learning Model for text classification via Power Automate flow, does the user plan quoted at the bottom able to support for project?

10Hi @ken199191964 ,

As per technical documentation over licensing, you can add the AI builder feature at $500/month.

You have to purchase an AI Builder capacity add-on for your Power Automate per-user licenses at the above cost.

Each license offers 1M (10 lakh) service credits per month.

With some licenses, it comes inbuilt, but for the license which doesn't come inbuilt, you can add the feature by paying the above cost.

Thanks

Hi @ken199191964 ,

As far as I know, your account should have a per user/per flow license to use the premium connectors like Dataverse.

M365/O365 license, you can still use power automate but you cannot make use of premium connectors. It's know as seeded license.

Per user license doesn't contains desktop flows facility for that you need to upgrade your license to power automate per user with attended RPA plan license.

Thanks

Thank you Vivek Pande.

For my project, without desktop flow should be fine. But it will involve Machine Learning, AI things, do you have any idea how will it charge me given that I used the per user license?

Hi @ken199191964

If you have Power Automate Per User Plan, it comes with 5000 AI builder Credtis/month. Base on ai builder calculator the amount of credits you need per form or document will be 500 credits. So if you process documents using AI Builder with your Power Automate Per User plan you can only process 10 documents. More than that you need to buy the AI Builder Capacity $500/month which is a 1unit of ai builder or equals to 2million credits and process to 2,000 forms/documents. My take is that AI Builder is way too much expensive for small businesses and its more favorable for big business.

So I built this template that processes any document just using the less expensive image recognition AI Builder service & GPT.

It seems much less expensive with a much lower barrier to entry only requiring a premium Power Automate license with 5000 AI Builder credits per month & some on-going LLM / GPT costs…

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Power-Automate-Cookbook/Extract-Data-From-PDFs-and-Images-With-G...

If I’m looking at this right, this method should cost

Image recognition +.0017

GPT prompt & output +.007

Flow actions +.00375

So about $ .013 per page.

Less expensive than any of the other microsoft document/receipt/invoice processing options. And several of those take about 30 seconds to run.
And the 5000 AI Builder credits that come with the now $15 premium Power Automate license is enough for 1500 Image recognition pages. So you could probably process 500-750 documents per month with just 1 premium Power Automate license.

So it seems this method is faster, less expensive, easier to adjust, & requires less set-up than other standard AI builder set-ups.

Once the GPT actions are in general availability, I don’t know why I’d use any of the other services. 🤷‍
