Putting Planner Description and Assignee into email with Flow

I'm using the  "Send a digest email of all outstanding planner tasks" template in Flow, but need to be able to put the Tasks Description and Assignee into the email. Does anyone know how to pull these values into the Flow?

Re: Putting Planner Description and Assignee into email with Flow

Hi @jster24,

I afraid that there is no way to put Assigned within planner task into the email in Microsoft Flow currently.

If you would like to get the value of Assigned in the planner task within Microsoft flow, you could vote for the similar ideal in the forum below:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Flow-Ideas/Planner-Get-more-task-details/idi-p/72538

You could put the Tasks Description into the email by the following workaround:

Make some changes based on the original template. Initialize an array variable to store the information of the Task.

  1. Use Get Task details action to get the Task description.

2.Use Compose action to store the information needed for each Task. Then append it to the array.

3.Then use the output of the array to create the Html table. Finally, send the table as the body as an email.

4.The configuration of Send email and Filter array actions is the same as the template.

It work, as below:

Take a try.

Re: Putting Planner Description and Assignee into email with Flow

Is there a way to add Bucket Name (not bucket ID) and Assignee(s) to this email?

Hi Barry,

Could you please describe in more detail the step 'Filter array' - perhaps a screenshot of this step expanded?

I love your solution just am having trouble repeating it myself 😉

Thanks in advance!

Hi @DanielaHo ,

In this Thread, Filter array is used to filter out unfinished tasks.

@not(equals(item()?['percentComplete'], int(100)))

Thanks - I got it to work Smiley LOL

However my table is not as nicely formatted as the one in your screenshot.. I did specify within the 'send email' step "Is HTML? Yes"... the email does not show the table grid though so it is visually a bit confusing esp for tasks that have long descriptions. How did you format your table in the way you did?

Thanks for quick reply @v-bacao-msft

I think i have typed in what in that box and double checked today but i still get the "JSON" error message.

Are there space bar blanks that would cause this error? I've typed mine without any spaces.

See below my screen shot.

Re: Send a digest email of all outstanding tasks in planner

There is a way to get Planner 'Assigned to' person's name in the report.  You need to pass t'value assigments' from 'list tasks' (or similar) to 'Get user profile (V2)' and return 'Display Name' to your flow.
