Reading attached excel from Email and creating items in SharePoint for each row from excel using Power automate

In Power automate , can we do below functionality without saving/downloading excel to any location(one drive or SharePoint or any cloud locations)

  1. Automated Email sent with attachment(excel)
  2. From Attached excel , we need to read each row and create items in SharePoint list for each row.

We have event called 'when a new email arrives' , After this event I need to read excel from attachment and  create items in SharePoint list for each row from excel.

Please let me know if anybody done the same or other options.

Hi @RamKan2021

I don't believe you can.  I am happy to be proven wrong but unlike a Microsoft List attachment which can be accessed without saving (as ultimately it is on SharePoint), an Outlook attachment is retrieved as file content and file name and so it needs to be saved before you can read it via Excel Actions or indeed via Graph API.

Hi @RamKan2021

I've a blog post / video for this scenario.  https://www.damobird365.com/create-table-in-excel-worksheet/ I believe that you would have to save the excel file to OneDrive or SharePoint in order to read the contents of it and you need to consider whether or not your incoming file has a table in it to be able to list rows using the existing actions.

The Graph api does allow you to read data from an excel file without a table but I prefer to use office scripts.

Let me know if you need any more info or if indeed this would work for you.

Please consider accepting my answer as a solution if it helps to solve your problem.

Cheers
