SharePoint Conditition Multi Choice fields does not contain

Hello,

I have a SharePoint List with a Multichoice field.  I am trying to create a Flow using a condition that the Multi Choice Field does not contain Choice A and does not contain Choice B.  The Flow will send an email, for example, if the Multi Choice field has Choice C but not Choice A and not a Choice B.

I have tried using a Filter Query with no luck and I have tried using conditions with does not contain.  I even tried to use a variable and append to it with the choices but does not contain did not work for me.

Does anyone have an idea how to do this?

Thank you,

Joanna

Here is an example that I believe will work for you.

I have a list with a choice column which allows for a multi-select.

The choice values are Moe, Larry and Curly.

No email is sent if Moe or Curly is one of the selected items.

I create an array with each selected option and then use Contains to see if the option is in the array.

My If statement uses an "or" expression.

Hi Scott,

Thank you for responding.  I tried your solution but I cannot get it to work.  Item 7 should send an email but nothing qualifies. Items 4 and 8 have Moe and Curly so they should not send an email.

I am also doing a Get Items.

Thank you,

Joanna

In the example that I have provided, please note that there is only 1 apply to each loop where I loop through each option selected in the multiple choice column and add them to an array.  Then I evaluate the Array in the condition using an expression outside of the loop.

You have two loops in your example.  If you need me to post a better screen shot, please let me know.

Hi Scott,

Unfortunately I am filtering on multiple items from a list.  I have used Get Items.  Your example is for one item (created or modifed).  Flow automatically wraps multiple items in an Apply to each loop.  Not only do I want to select multiple items each week in my Flow, I only want to send one email per item.   The apply to each is making it difficult.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Scott,

I think I have it.  I had to make it a string variable.  Append to the string variable.  Then use your condition and then set the variable to blank.

Thank you for your help.

That works!

Alternatively you can use an array as in my example and set the array to null.

Glad you got it working.

oh I was wondering about using your array.  I am going to try that as well, learn how to null it out and then I will share the 2 solutions with many people in my company.

Scott, I could not have gotten this Flow to work without your help.  I love the contains condition you designed.  The array is brilliant.  Thank you ever so much for helping me!

@ScottShearer this array variable solution worked great for handling checks against a multi-choice field. Thanks!

Not working for me. In your step "Apply to each 3", how have you selected the SharePoint multi-choice column?

In my case, it is not showing the required multi-choice column in Dynamic content at all for the "Select an output from previous steps" box.
