Strip email body from latest reply to sharepoint list item

Hello,

Hope you're all well.

I've managed to setup 2 flows, the first runs when a sharepoint list item is updated and the specified contact receives an email. The second flow runs when an email is received (with the list item unique ID in the subject) and it takes the body contents of the email and updates the sharepoint list item with it. It all works perfectly..

However, does anyone know of a way where you can just strip the reply email body - rather than the reply and the original message, through Power automate?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi @Jon2

If there is a common string in the reply, you could use the expression indexof and then create a new substring with the index being the start of the new string.

string = 'abcdefgh'

indexof(string,d)

substring(string,indexof(string,d)) = efgh

Hi Damien,

Thanks for the quick reply - however the reply can start with and contain any text, so don't think that would work.

Hi @Jon2

Will the reply not include a header?  Something that occurs in each email?  Unless you can see the exact string you are looking for in the history of the flow, you need to work with what you have got and so you are going to have to split or substring this string.  Alternatively you are going to have to get access to the original email before it is forwarded, in which case you save the text in the first flow you mention (in a list or somewhere) and maybe call it up in the 2nd flow.
