When a Form is submitted, send and email, and then based on answers send an email with attachment

Someone fills out a form, then the results are emailed to the responder. If a certain box is checked, I want to attach with a HOW-To document attached to the person who filled out the Form. Here is what I have. The email portion works perfectly, I just dont know how to get dynamic content for the attachment (stored on One Drive for Business)

Hi @sw138,

Do you want to create a file based on the answers of the form in OneDrive for Business?

If you want to send an email with an attachment, you could click “Switch to detail inputs for array” button within “Send an email” action:5.JPG

Then fill proper file name in Attachments Name field:6.JPG

But the Attachments Content field need to be filled with a binary content, the feature of converting the answers of the form into a binary content is not supported in Microsoft Flow currently, so I afraid that there is no way to send an email with an attachment which is based on answers of the form currently.

If you would like this feature to be added in Microsoft Flow, please submit an idea to Flow Ideas Forum:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Flow-Ideas/idb-p/FlowIdeas

Best regards,

Kris

hi, thanks for the reply.

The attachment is not going to be the answers from the form, the answers of the form will decide if the atachment is sent.

This is for a conference center. If someone checks the box that they will be using Skype for business in their meeting, I want to automatically send them a "How-To use Skype" PDF.

I already have a conditional set up to do something else based on Form data (which works), I just need to know what to do to get a file attached to an email.

Hi @sw138,

Do you want to attach a file into an Outlook email?

I have made a test on my side and please take a try with the following workaround:16.JPG

The flow works successfully as below:17.JPG

Kris

thanks, but that is not quite what I need. I want an attachment sent which is triggered by a form being submitted. There is no dynamic content for that attachment field in the Outlook step that will lead my to my OneDrive.

hi sw138,

i am trying to do the exact same thing,

i ll be running around some tests and get you a feed back.

have you by any chance found a solution yet ? (it would be useful because i am lazy enough to ask for it Smiley Tongue)

No, I can't get it to send an attchment. Since this is only going internal to my company, I put the document on a SharePoint and just put the link int he body of the email.

I wish there was more formal training for this. Microsoft Virtual Academy has courses for C# and ASP.NET development. Why not a more indepth class on Flow?

@sw138if it's a multiple choice question you will have to add two action to convert the users choice to string (text) to use it as a condition and send your file (i don't know if it's clear but as i said i have something a bit similar and running tests, i can explain in details if that correspond to your case).

but if the files are stocked in your onedrive you will need a connector in one drive and an action to have your file listed and have the dynamic content !

kind regards,

CDo

Can you provide more information regarding the solution you are recommending? I am looking to do the same as the other folks above. I have a form that gets filled out about online workshops people want to attend. It sends me an approval. Once approved Flow sends them an email letting them know their request has been approved. Each of the workshops have different instructions. I would like to include in the email a PDF attachment of workshop instructions for each of the workshops they requested.

The only way I found for this to work is by sending a link to the dusument in the body of the email, not the doc itself.

I also wish that you could insert a link, not just paste the entire link text. It would just look better.
