dynamic value added to emails are not visible when reviewing/editing a flow even though they are there

Hello,

I'm working on an human resources onboarding flow in Power Automate, where a MS Form submission triggers an excel spreadsheet to update pulling in the information provided in MS Form, and then an email to be sent to the hiring manager, which includes various things from the Form and/or spreadsheet. The workflow was tested before and it was working fine. However, I had to make some changes to the content of the email so I went to edit the flow, but then I noticed that the dynamic values I've added in previously do not appear anymore. So I added them in again. I then tested the process and realized that the values were there, but they were not visible/displayed, as seen below:

dynamic values not visible when reviewing or editing a flow.PNG

As you can see below, in the email that was sent out to the line manager, the values appeared twice.

duplicated dynamic values.PNG

I checked my other flows as well, and it seems I have the same problem in all my flows. Certain dynamic values are not displayed even though they are there. I deleted these 'invisible' values and re-added them. I then saved the flows, refreshed the page and selected edit again. Unfortunately, that didn't fix the issue. I still can not see them, which makes reviewing and editing and in general, managing the flows very difficult and super frustrating. Is this a well known bug? Has anybody else came across this? Is there an easy fix?

Thanks,

Bo

Dear Bo_Suto,

I experience the same problem when trying to edit my existing "send mail" steps.

Had that issue already in the past. Solution was to exit the edit mode and refresh the site.

But now that doesn't solve the problem anymore.

Who could help? That behavior stops me from making any changes in my flows.

I selected the whole content of the text box (Ctrl + A), cut it and pasted it back into the text box. After that, all dynamic contents were visible again. So, the contents are still "there" but invisible.

But after saving and refreshing the flow they were invisible again.

Hi @marcel737

Many thanks for the response, much appreciated!

I have tried the option you've suggested (cut and paste) and it did work, however, only temporarily. I'm in the early stages of building out various internal process flows at the moment and therefore I need to go back to my flows to review and adjust them quite a lot. Using your suggestion seemed to have worked while I was reviewing a specific flow. However, as soon as I exited this specific flow and then revisited the flow later, I faced the same issue, the dynamic contents were invisible again.

I'm also struggling with successfully saving links in the email. I add in a link, click save, everything seems fine, so I exit the flow. Then when I go back to my flow and I notice that the link was not saved. There is no indication, no error message, yet it is not saved. This is also extremely frustrating and makes everything VERY time-consuming.

It might be best if I report these as bugs or issues to be fixed.

Thanks again though

I'm having this exact issue for a very similar reason, very annoying and I haven't yet figured out a solution.

I have the same problem - really annoying! Please fix it as soon as possible, it's very difficult to work on creating mails with the right format if half the content (all dynamic values) are invisible every time you re-open the edit mode...

I have managed to find a fix (somewhat). When you click on the code view (i.e. the </> button in each of the boxes), it does show that the dynamic content is there and working as normal. Unfortunately this doesn't mirror into the standard view, but it does mean that you are able to ensure that the dynamic content is there!

Hope this solves a lot of problems... 🙂

This actually solves the issue, thanks!
Don´t know if it was intended to be designed like this, hopefully not..

Probably not... but it usually happens when I have quite a lot of dynamic content in the flow. So assume it just can't hack with showing that all.

At least it is still there! @Bo_Suto hopefully you've seen the above
