how to embed a response body/link into approval email

Hi,

I am trying to build a flow where a trigger is: Submitting a form Follow by action: sending approval email. Ideally I would like to have the body of the response embedded into approval email, however the only option I Have is to embed a response id which makes no sense.

Can you please help?

Hi @kazmierczakkami,

If here you mean the Microsoft Forms trigger, then please follow the steps below:

1. Add the form response trigger,

2. Add aother Microsoft Forms action->Get response details,

3. Select the corresponding From ID, then sepcify the response ID with the following expression:

first(triggerBody()?['value'])?['resourceData']?['responseId']

4. Add the Send Approval Email action, under the body, format the result as you wish

I managed the first 3 steps thanks.

No as it goes to the email how do I embed specific answers from the form to the body.

At this stage I can only add Response ID

I've got that problem too. Somehow the flow was inserted in "For each" loop, maybe that was the problem.

I re-wrote the flow and now it works like a charm.

There is an easier workaround to send the user directly to the edit form, use a redirecting display form with some simple JavaScript: https://www.dmcinfo.com/latest-thinking/blog/id/8674/always-open-sharepoint-2013-tasks-in-edit-mode

I spent ages looking for a way to get the taskID so I could send the approver directly to the form but there is no way to do it, this is the best workaround i've seen.

This is great, thank you, Michael. Do you know if there is a way to extract direct link to actual submission. It looks like Response ID does not carry a link as an attribute

I believe I'm facing a similar issue. However I have issues at Step 4: Send Approval Email action.

I'm unable to locate this action while building the Flow process.

Could you kindly advise ?

I might be late to the party, but you can also use "start and wait for an approval" to accomplish this.

This is not working for me.  There must be a solution for this right, a form when used in a community servicing team all around the world cannot simply click through to get tot he result.  We don't have a sharepoint workspace dedicated for this so anything to do with SharePoint List is pointless.  We just need to have a direct link to the submitted result because that's also where the supporting document uploads are.
