"An error occurred. Please try again later." message when trying to respond to an Approval email

The flow triggers when a response is added to a list. It then gets the item details, as well as a list of branch managers. It then compares the responders location to the list of branch managers, determining who their manager is. Finally it sends an email approval to their manager. That works fine, no issues there.

The problem is that when the Approval email is received, you can't approve or reject it due to the error message.

I've tried using Start and Wait for Approval (both v1 and v2).

I havent seen an update in my support ticket yet. I tested this again this morning and still seems to be throwing an error.

Thank you. I hope they sort it out soon.

I also checked this morning with hopes that the update stating to check after today would mean that it should be done today, but apparently not. Crossing fingers for tomorrow.

crossing fingers for tomorrow also. Thank you for checking!

It works for me today, i had to update MS office to 1907 and works.

Yes! It works if you run the update! Good deal!

1907?

That's correct!

If you can't update manually from the "Office Account" area of the backstage (clicking File in Outlook or any other Office app) you'll need to get help from your IT dept. I confirmed it doesn't work today with version 1906 and am making the update now.

It's working for our users now with version 1907. Funny thing is since opening this ticket I've moved to using Outlook online and now prefer it over the client with all the extra features and updates it's getting! Smiley Very Happy

Does anyone know if this this issue only affect those on the 1906 update? I have collegues that are on 1906 and experience this issue whilst I am on 1902 and it works properly for me....

I can't say for sure, but it makes logical sense that there was an issue with version 1906 since we didn't see it for anyone prior to this version.

...and now another broken part of the approval Flow...

I just found today that now the comments for an approval aren't being written correctly so when you approve (or if you try to write the value of the approval comments) the result for the comments is: {{approve.value}} instead of whatever the comments are. Tested with multiple Flows and the out of the box request sign-off Flow and the issue persists there as well. Microsoft breaking things in Flow once again...  Here are the examples and maybe it's limited to my tenant... I'm so excited to put in yet another support ticket with MS. Smiley Wink

My comments are still working on 1907 - also still working if the outcome is reject, and if I put the approval comments into an email

Thanks for sharing that. I've actually found this is flipped from the issue for this thread, as it's not working when taking action from Outlook online only and works in the client or Flow approval center. No need to continue on this thread since it's a different issue - don't want to muddy the waters on the context. 🙂

Hello all,

I have the same issue described here today where while working on a migration project from 2007 into Online I tryed to replicate the approval functionality and just created a simple Approval Flow for new items added to a SharePoint List and when I try to approve or reject it through Outlook or OWA by clicking on the Approve or Reject buttons the only thing I see is a message that reads "An error occurred. Please try again later" as shown in the screenshot below.

My version of Outlook is 1908 (Build 11929.20300)

Approving or Rejecting the flow using Flow Approvals Center inside of O365 does work.

I already saw this is a common issue with lower version of Outlook but not with this one, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Salvador Rodriguez.

Hello All,

I had this issue prior to the fix from version 1907.  I got the same issue again today.  As before, I am able to approve through MS Flow > Action Item> Approvals.  It is not ideal but will use that for now.  Any updates to this issue will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Amrah

Hi All,

Apology has this problem solved? My company has been using the flow for a few month and only now received this error. Our outlook version is 2102. I was looking through forum looking for a solution and i stumble into this thread of discussion but doesn't seem to understand what to do.
