"An error occurred. Please try again later." message when trying to respond to an Approval email

The flow triggers when a response is added to a list. It then gets the item details, as well as a list of branch managers. It then compares the responders location to the list of branch managers, determining who their manager is. Finally it sends an email approval to their manager. That works fine, no issues there.

 

The problem is that when the Approval email is received, you can't approve or reject it due to the error message.

 

I've tried using Start and Wait for Approval (both v1 and v2).

I've had this happen to several users recently. But since it's 2023, I see this is an old discussion and it should be resolved by Microsoft already.  Anyone else still experiencing this?

I've had this happening as well. It started only with the Outlook desktop application, but I just now got the same error within the Outlook Web Application. Guess it's time to open a ticket with MS.

I haven't found a solution yet. I did only get the error one time within the Web Application. I've been using that as my "go to" workaround, as I've found nothing of use from Microsoft. I haven't had a chance to open a ticket yet. Going straight to the My Approvals link from the Power Automate dashboard is also an option, but that currently has issues too, with the detail from the task being cut off.

Thanks for the prompt response. I upgraded one of the PCs to Office 365 and it worked perfectly in Outlook. But most of our team members are still on Office 2019 and will need to find a solution. We will use power automation dashboard in the meantime.

You might check this article, issue 2, to see if it is the problem in your tenant. It was not in ours. Issues with Flow Approval Emails in Outlook Desktop and Web

I had this happening with 2 users.  I found out that both users had Outlook that was way out of date.  The one user also hadn't logged off his computer in nearly a year (crazy!).  As a test, I had them go to OWA and attempt to approve a workflow item.  That worked.  So, I knew it had to be their outdated systems.  After IT Support upgraded them everything worked fine.  Maybe that helps you??

I’m going crazy. Apparently, Outlook 2019 in the volume license version does not get this update. The volume license version has version 1808 Build 10396.20023 from March 2023 according to this website (https://learn.microsoft.com/de-de/officeupdates/update-history-office-2019) and the retail version has 2302 Build 16130.20332

This means that Power Automate - which is definitely more of a business service - is not fixed in the volume license version, which is used exclusively by business customers - but it is fixed in the retail version for end customers.

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities. Users must provide a solution which can be an “Accepted Solution” in the Forums in all of the communities and there are no limits to the number of “Accepted Solutions” that a member can provide for entries in this challenge, but each entry must be substantially unique and different.    Winner Selection and Prizes: At the end of each week, we will list the top ten (10) Community users which will consist of: 5 Community Members & 5 Super Users and they will advance to the final drawing. We will post each week in the News & Announcements the top 10 Solution providers.  At the end of the challenge, we will add all of the top 10 weekly names and enter them into a random drawing.  Then we will randomly select ten (10) winners (5 Community Members & 5 Super Users) from among all eligible entrants received across all weekly Entry Periods to receive the prize listed below.
